I'd say you'd be on to something is this wasn't the status quo playbook for NWA prior to the merger amongst themselves....

When you have just as many people involved in oversight as you do in actual leadership you get this kind of drama.

I'm like you, I write all kinds of stuff on my copy of the release, and it's good to have all the fuel values/MEL info and whatnot right there so you're not continually digging around in a pile of paper.

We sit at the gate, push late waiting for paperwork, and the taxiout is still 10x busier than under the NWA system when we got the loads/MGL over ACARS on the taxiout. How the F does that work?

Personally, I'm a professional, and if they want to play "guard the paperwork 'cause I'm an all knowing insecure authority" captain, then they can just go ahead an log their own damn landings in iCrew.

Nu, I love ya, but that is not the way it works. The release info is in the data block on the flight plan. That sucker sits in the middle of the cockpit. I have NEVER had a Captain take it and put it on his side of the flight deck. I have my hands on that thing many times a flight.
On the HOWGOZIT which is connected to the data block, we do estemated times then actual fuel burn and time over fixes. It is on one release so both guys do not have to do the work.
As FtB mentions it is also to make sure that the right release is being flow. I use the EasyBid data sheets, put all of those required and desired numbers on that slip of paper and am very happy with it.
If you want your own release which is strongly recommended against, do it. Just type a delta matic code and flight number in to the DALmatic and it will print a crap load of paper. The way FBS is set up, when the release is requested it prints out everything. Not just the release slip. I have always flow with one copy of the release and see the reasoning behind it.

Again, just highlight what you want, then click print selection...

For any of you DAL-S guys that want to see this hallowed worldflight release "front page," go to Deltanet... click on manuals and library services, click on FOM and FOBs at the top left... click on FOM part 1 (or just pull your FOM out of your flight kit)...

Go to pages 5.7.21 and 5.7.26.

Those 2 blocks combined are the "front page" that you get 3 copies of... it works out to be about a 8.5x11 to slightly larger sheet of paper.

It is significantly different than our front page, which is why most DAL-S guys can't understand or picture what the -N guys are talking about. Look it up so you can understand what they are talking about. All the info is in your FOM.

I'll be the first to say that I personally like worldflight releases a little bit better... not something I'm going to get my panties in a wad over, though. Both systems are equally capable and very efficient in their info presented.

It's a mainline jet. IF it gets based in NYC, I Guess that you will be able to bid it!

It could be all 175's flown by republic!

Right back at ya, ACL...

I think a bit of clarification is in order. The "release" at NWA was more than just what you guys call "the release" (the signed slip left with the agent) . It had all the flight info, release number, fuel, ship number, flight times (OOOI), alternates, filed flight plan, MEL, EFOA...all the stuff that you want double checked before you launch, and a lot of which is in other parts of the DAL "package". I always highlighted all the major stuff on my copy as a check that I checked everything. With one guy using the FP to load the FMS winds, you can see where having an extra copy was well worth it.

Along with 3 copies of the release (1 of which was signed and left), there was the flightplan and the weather package. I could sit here and try to explain it, but while some of the stuff was called the same, they have very different contents. If anyone is interested in looking at what we're veebing about, they have a "Worldflight/MGL" package on Deltanet. Look it over, and I'd be happy to answer any questions.

As for keeping track, our ACARS software also had a confidence check on the release/amendments. You'd input the FOB (which went right to load control so they had the exact number) and release number when you did the init, and it would send back a RLS/FOB OK if everything was right.

As for what FlyingSig says...all I can say is that I want to know what's in my sausage, rather than being lorded over by a benevolent (or otherwise) dictator. If that means the occasional food fight, then so be it.

Yup, I was just thinking that that would be an improvement. Those NY/BOS guys are mostly on the ER & the 800 since the shuttle went to the Maddog and the Maddog went to see America (vs. strictly shuttle). Anything that gets the shuttle back to a mainline product is a win in my book.

The fNWA dispatch rel. were very useful in finding key info in a heartbeat. It took me a while to switch to the DL longer format, which you have to scroll up and down to look for info that only takes seconds in fNWA format. Sorry, but what's past is past, and if it takes delaying a flight to make sure you're comfy, so be it. I seriously doubt the brass on the 4th floor really cares.

Mr. Keating told me to rip that section out, and then he told me to stand on the desks, shout Captain my Captain, and see the world from the world from a new perspective, little did I know that was the Delta perspective.

Carpe Diem.

Sorry, are these rumors just for BOS-LGA or might we see mainline get LGA-DCA back?
