I know what you are trying to say, but it seems a little bit extreme to say that people couldn't live off of 80 hrs of our current rates with a modest raise. The upward progression that an improvement in work rules would create would allow you to make as much as you do now or more without spending as many days away from home. Not much different for reserves like yourself who aren't flying very many days, but for those of us that fly a regular line it would be an increase in Q of L. (At least for those of us who like to be with our families.)

a little bit of a blockhour increase...2nd flt to Ams
DL will fly twice daily to AMS. DL238/9 and DL174/5 both with A332s. DL 174/5 will operate between June 11th and August 31st. The flight will arrive at AMS around 14:45 and leave AMS at 17:20

Yeah yeah yeah... biD packages.. Anyway, they keep putting that stuff in month after month, and I'll wager that of 12,000 guys, there aren't 50 (outside of the ones that write it or work with it in a daily basis) that have any clue what it is all about. I know I'm going all Don Quixote on this, but is that trash really necessary? And if it is, how will it help us bid?
If you are saying that our pay is so low now that it takes 160hrs of it a month to live comfortably, you may need to look at some lifestyle changes.

Point is and was, that for a line holder he can pickup a set amount out of the pot per month. Cut that like Sailing is stating many guys will cry foul. Ergo, the way to fix it is to raise the rates.
You must remember that people live within the means of what they are making (generally) Cut that by 42% require them to save for retirement, throw in the fact that these guys that took the pay cuts are now parents of college kids, and they need to make X.
I love this job, and want to make what I am worth! Where I live within my means or to the salary I make is my business not the companies.
I say to all, get debt free, pay off the house, and then really start saving money. If you pull that belt buckle in a bunch now, it will pay dividends in a few short years. That is how an average person truly starts to create generational wealth!

If a reserve guy picks up a GS trip on his work days(not on XX days or golden days), is it just credit towards guarantee, or is it straight pay above guarantee??
I should probably mention it's an out of base GS. Does that make a difference? It is NOT on my days off, so is it a pointless GS???
OK, if I'm reading Section 23 N. corrrectly my GS is pointless because they would award the trip to Long Call out of base reserves and Short Call out of base reserves before they even get to GS requests. Since I'm on reserve in DTW, and it's a MEM trip they could just assign it to me anyway.
Is that correct?? Am I actually understanding this PWA???
