The FFD concept for wholly-owned DCI is asinine and seems to contradict virtually everything DAL is trying to accomplish. Add to that pass-through fuel costs from the third-party DCI carriers and it's a complete disaster. So what to do? This Comair pilot is fine with a staple. I don't really care what the senior 10% that run the CMR MEC want. Eight-year FOs, BK, multiple furloughs and starting Section 6 this year at a regional that is half it's size compared to 5 years ago --- a staple is just dandy with me and a whole bunch of other guys/gals here. I'd rather be furloughed with a mainline number than endure this crap. No more scope issues, everyone is a DAL pilot, and mgmt can use the "we don't outsource our flying" marketing strategy to their hearts content.

I'll let the smart guys figure out scope, longetivity, aircraft fences, blah blah blah. I do believe one thing -- a DCI wholly-owned merger is not going to happen IMHO.

So what happens when the plane is made out of plastic and not aluminum? I mean composites or whatever they make planes out of these days. Oh yeah, its all ball bearings nowadays. Now I just need some 3-in-1 oil and some gauze pads and about ten quarts of anti-freeze, preferably Preston. No, no, make that Quaker State.

Is anyone else having problems with the contents on their CQ CD's? Those that were put in my v-file seem to have (senior) Flight Attendant CQ modules:

YouTube - An Engineer's Guide to Cats

Some of this stuff is fairly useful for pilots. Fopr instance, when you think you're waiting your crew meal, you're actually playing the "I'm not paying attention to you" game (see 03:42).

And losing.

Big.

Any math geniuses here? Seems to me the system load factor didn't go up high enough, considering the big gap between capacity reduction, and a relatively modest traffic drop. The numbers for Domestic and International, on the other hand, seem consistent:

Press Release Source: Delta Air Lines On Thursday March 4, 2010, 2:29 pm

ATLANTA, March 4 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Delta Air Lines (NYSE:DAL - News) today reported traffic results for February 2010. System traffic in February 2010 decreased 2.6 percent compared to February 2009 on a 6.1 percent decrease in capacity. Load factor increased 2.8 points to 77.1 percent.

Domestic traffic decreased 3.3 percent year over year on a 4.6 percent decrease in capacity. Domestic load factor increased 1.0 point to 78.8 percent. International traffic decreased 1.5 percent year over year on an 8.5 percent decrease in capacity, and load factor increased 5.3 points to 74.3 percent.

My favorite part of the whole press release was that "Regional" International traffic increased considerably YOY.

If that's not an oxymoron, I don't know what is! When are we going to stop calling these aircraft Regional Jets?

When we start paying international per diem and overrides to all destinations that are actually... other countries.

Guess if you didn't fly in the military your just a piece of dirt. I'm happy to be a piece of dirt. Although I would've given my right nut to fly Mach 1 with my hair on fire if Uncle Sam let me.

Thursday March 4, 2010
Air France KLM said it plans to reduce its summer schedule capacity by just 0.3% year-over-year, comprising an 8% lift in long-haul ASKs and a 4% reduction in the medium-haul network, as "tentative signs of recovery, depending on the country, have been perceived

I think the proper word is mixed.
