I say great, get those slots, so how about you give up a few slots at Love, or how about one of your terminals. :P

Hardly seems fair, right?

I had a talk yesterday with a friend who is nearing his 10th year at a major DCI regional carrier. He wants to leave, does not want more scope concessions, and is hoping that DAL will punch his exit visa next time around. All and all I agree, the problem is that those that want to leave a regional are smart enough not to make waves in their Association.
Yep!

(although I have seen a few of the "super senior" guys from my past carrier who chose to stay for live-in-base purposes and a very acceptable set of work rules, and they are really level headed and have looked out for the junior as well as the senior.....Super? FTB? Johnso? Would you agree that there is at least 1 regional MEC that sees the big picture?)

Uh... 7 to go.

I have a friend that is RAH and he has talked to people he knows and they're banking on staying. Being in the ground floor of whatever RAH becomes.

As to the previous carrier, one interesting thing was there used to be a lot of senior pilots that lived in the outstation basing in the northeast (Maine and Vermont) we had at the time flying ATRs and being very content. They passed up going to Continental, not wanting to commute to EWR anyways and be at the bottom of that seniority list, I think in the early to mid 1990s. By the late 1990s those bases were closed and early 2000s their planes parked, service discontinued to those airports and they had to commute to EWR anyways.

Can't say that I blame him. How many laughed at the SWA guys back in the day. Getting in on the ground floor of a visionary start up can be very lucrative.

RAH has one advantage that SWA never had, a compliant Federal Government. According to Herb's book, the CAB tried to thwart SWA at every turn. Now the feds only concern is that fare prices don't rise. Hence RAW will prosper at the expense of the established carriers. It will be interesting to see if their marketing and planning guys are as good as SWA's.

Well RAH may make it. I have to say I have ran in to a few of their CA's that very smugly tell me, yep we will take your 100 seat flying and we will do it cheaper than you.
I just stare and ask how long he has been there, and in the industry. Generally it is less than five years on both accounts.
