Yep.. I'd end up keeping my mouth shut on that part. Would stop at "holding the line."

You never know when you've got an angry lifer sitting there... well, sometimes they make themselves known, but you know.

The senior guys want to retire and retire with their pensions. Problem is that just like scope the cost of making the whole in their eyes will cost a ton of money.
I think we should give them a catch up, and other perks. Terminating a pension on someone sucks. If they did not go save their payout this last time around and went and bought some toy, then they have no sympathy from me at all.

*not making that one up at all. Its a small percentage of people you fly with who don't pay attention but it always worries you that your sample might be skewed and that too many might not be engaged.

I'm behind the effort 100% absolutely without reservation, but the reality is that there are some guys at the top that aren't as interested as you and I are... they never will be. Not anymore than you are in giving them.. me a fully funded DB plan back... we all have some differing interests. That's just the way it is. Personally, if I don't see a reserve system that truly recognizes seniority in ALL apsects of bidding and trip assignment/pickup, I am voting no to any contract I am faced with, and I have NEVEr been a single issue voter before. 2015 will be different. Sorry.. rant over.

We've got some great senior folks that are willing to chime on this forum or speak up on the line, we just need to encourage that. I'd say "Go VOLS!" to one but its more pallatable to say "Screw Kiffin and USC!"
Colors added for attention.

imho, we (speaking about all Delta pilots here) should all be concerned about what happens at the top (i.e. widebody scope) and if you're not then you're nuts or clueless. Now, by whatever measure you classify the bottom dwellers (<250, <500, <1000, <5000, etc), we are gravely concerned about regional scope because we fear it might be erroded for a supposed gain elsewhere. Not only that, but there might be a justification for it that many buy. Now, for our sake we need the guys at the top (>50%?) that honestly don't have to be concerned but we bottom feeders really need them to be if we're going to prevent any scope erosion. As Captains' and a few in the training department are fond of telling me as a warning "this is a Captains airline" and if you're going to make anything better you have to have the Captains involved and not just the 500 hour wonder boys on the bottom of the list... although we don't have any 500 hour wonder boys.

I think I've been consistent in my posts and if thats not what has been conveyed then I apologize. As to the Airbus-Embraer thing, it happened to me once on the ER and I've had similiar conversations on the 88. I promise you I'm not making that up. The good thing is that it normally only takes a second to explain what the Ejets are for guys not to like why they're there. I've not necessarily had the conversations Satch has posted but I'd agree bringing back pensions are probably the #1 goal of more people then I would've thought although I'd guess its a tiny fraction.

As to single issue voters, including us on the bottom concerned about scope, here is a warning - would you ever buy a car based just on what your monthly payment is?

btw, we're approaching 30,000.

%$@)#(%* I had a fun quote (with equally fun comments from me) to add to complement your post but I won't post it. I know the forum rules and I'm afraid it'd just create a snowball.

Bummer.

Should we start a pool, how many inches of snow accumulate (we can measure in fractions if necessary) and how many flights cancelled?

I'm guessing, given how hot it was for me walking the dog for 45 minutes, I'm going with < 0 and 250 flights cancelled.

FtB;
Every time I am in EWR and that CPS E-jet is parked there my CA's always wonder out loud as to when NWS got 737's. Every time I tell em that that is no 737, that, Sir is a regional jet Embraer 175 that pays a CA half of what you make.

The color that comes out after they read the name and model underneath the aft door is always priceless. It is almost like an awakening at that point. They all of a sudden get the whole SJS scope issue.

No roadway accumulation. Little to no accumulation on the grass. Airport will either have a ton of flights canceled or since they misjudged the last one, there will be stranded passengers everywhere, and we cancel nada.

I am still trying to wager if I will go to work or not. New month, WS abound as everyone runs to fill up, or they all stay at home. Who knows, who cares, just call the home phone as I am outside trimming trees!

I gotta say, as one who cannot name or recognize every jet out there, just because someone cannot "name that airplane" doesn't mean they don't have an idea about scope and what is at stake. Not pointing this at anyone in particular.

I've got an 1845 departure tomorrow. I've missed snowmageddon on the other events so far this year... woo hoo!
