A month, good lord, what did OJ break out or something?
As long as you have notified the CP in a timely manner and the company does not try on their own to get you out of it, you are correct. Two points from the contract:
2. A pilot will immediately notify his Base Chief Pilot upon receipt of a summons or subpoena. A pilot who does not so notify his Base Chief Pilot will not be paid during his absence.
3. The Company may intervene with the appropriate authorities to seek release from or deferral of jury duty or appearance as a witness.

That is just plain crazy. Got to love Texas. I have never seen a summons for that amount of time!
Federal summons are often for a month and sometimes go for a year (i.e. every other monday or 1 week every month). You are just statistically less likely to get a federal summons than you are a county summons. Just many more potential jurors, less federal courts and far fewer jury trials in a Federal Court.

Thanks Denny,
I can't find any direct wording in the contract, but I bet it can be spun as Pinnacle being an 'offline' DH rather then a off-rotation DH. What's funny is they don't have any problem sending me on an RJ when it benefits them, but they won't give me a seat home even though it's in my contract. No where does it say it has to be a mainline flight, but I can see them spinning it to their advantage as usual.

I do believe the company considers anything other than mainline to be offline. If dh on compass, pinnacle, mesaba, etc, double check the report time because if offline, you must report 1 hr prior to departure vs 30min for mainline.
Yeah, really. We do bash those entities, those topics won't get a thread locked. Oh, and "better then what" may I ask????
There are some that would choose to engage that comment in a "personal way" and I just wanted to make sure that it didn't head down that road.
Not one to be too serious. You most certainly mistake my personal/political views, as my "preference" last time around was a short, goofy-looking old guy from Texas who doesn't like the Fed but has solid principles.
BTW, how can I find out what books you've written, I'm always interested in a good read.

Thanks Shiz.
I've got vacation in march so if I can get another free vacation in April I'd be stoked
