I don't need 5 weeks of vacation. I need scope protection.
I don't need a pension. I need scope protection.

There are lots of things I don't need and one thing I do need. That thing is scope protection.

Oh, and hey, I'm also a big fan of scope protection.

Frank;

Many people saw it as my ONLY issue. My point is that you gots one vote period. Just like me. There are a great deal of guys that could care less what you want, it is about their needs, there are some that will not be effected by scope but know about it, not willing to give up a pay raise for it, but do not want to sell it, than there are those of us that realize that without section one, the CBA is at risk.
Point is that there are 12000 different viewpoints and the middle is far away from Scope for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It is near the I want my pay but I refuse to sell scope for anything thing. I will not give up a pay raise in 2012 for a recapture of scope, but I will not sell it either.

That was my entire point in the exchange between Keenster, Denny, and I. There are 12000 different motivations for voting. For Keenster to say that all the North guys will not sell scope is very Utopian. People vote self interests. It's easy to see where short term self interests lie for certain demographics of our list. For some there are no long term consequences because they don't have a long term.

I am not declaring that I know how they will vote, just making a prediction based on observation. Like a technical stock picker, he looks at the chart, bases his decision on the math and the trends. But he can never be sure how millions of irrational human beings are going to behave.

I think the one lesson learned from RAH is that you have little control over the actions of an outsourced carrier. Say delta could outsource 747 flying to mesaba or kallitta, what's not to say United or American offers something better? They'll do what is in their best interest which is not likely to be in the best interest of the mainline carrier hence why it's wiser to keep it in house because it can cost you dearly later.

FtB;
Like I have said, there will be an event somewhere in this industry due to outsourcing that will put a business in to default. I am not talking about a crash, I am talking about someone coming in and acquiring another airline and dropping the feed for another carrier.

AS would be a good example for us. LUV comes in and is willing to pay the Poison pill price, guess what? Our Feed to many of our international flights, poof gone. We will not have the resources to replace it. All of that flying will dry up. It will cost the business more money to fix it than it saved by not doing the flying themselves. That will be the lesson someone gets dealt someday, that will reverse this process.

here's a question,

I was originally slated to convert back to the bus in March. Well on each of the last projected training lists its still showed march but i havent been scheduled for training yet. So i called and training scheduling told me i'd go in April now and that the projected training list isnt the final say. Well this morning i looked up the Conversion list for April and it shows my name on there as being converted by April 1st. What do yall think? Why would it show me being converted as of April 1st but nothing has been scheduled yet.

heres whats written on the conversion list.

DATE: FEBRUARY 26, 2010
TO: PILOTS LISTED
TIME: 18:20
FROM: MANAGER - CREW RESOURCES
SUBJECT: CONVERSIONS
IN ACCORDANCE WITH PROVISIONS OF SECTION 22 OF THE PILOT AGREEMENT
THE FOLLOWING ADVANCE ENTITLEMENTS AND DISPLACEMENTS ARE HEREBY
CONVERTED EFFECTIVE 01APR2010.

I guess it means that since you are pay protected, they really do not care when you actually fly the jet!

Your training will be quick, so they may just be looking for a hole to fit you in to!

Super,

Sounds like you're getting an extra paid "vacation" starting on April 1.......you just do not know how long it is yet!! And no, I'm not saying "April Fools!!"

Denny is correct. Once converted that is the jet you have to fly. So get converted, quit calling them and let them figure out you are sitting at home wiping down the GTO with one of the baby's diapers.

As long as were are answering questions, I got a Federal Jury Summons for almost the whole month of April. After reading the contract I interpret it to mean I will get paid my line (reserve guarantee) for the time I am on call for jury duty. Correct?
