Nope. Nothing that deep involved in the picture. I will think of one that you can waste those valuable brain cells on!

Hey ACL. Word coming from the MKE area is RAH will drop the midwest name and go with frontier. Frontier already code shares with air tran. Any word coming from ATL on what that may do to the midwest code share.

I am sure that is NDA territory.

AAI codes with Frontier, not sure DAL would. Code is for Midex pax to DAL metal, so if/when the name dies, I am sure the code would do. Of course it depends on the wording of the Code Share agreement......

Default Reservation Line

I know we don't deal with the reservation line much as pilots but, it is ridiculous that at least a week after a major storm that a customer can not get in touch with Delta via 800-221-1212 or 404-765-5000. One sends you to a prerecorded message saying due to wx we can not take your call and the other gives you the head fake. (Hangs up on you about two minutes into the call)

Anyone else have any other numbers they call to get in touch with a reservation agent. I need to reissue a buddy pass and I'm unable to accomplish it on travelnet.

Wow, I had to go thru the exact same thing yesterday. Got the svr WX recording, the hang up a few minutes later. Tried again half hour later and got through, not much of a wait either. Thankfully I got a nice lady, I was afraid i'd get someone that would be (rightfully) ****ed about having to take a buddy pass call.....

While enjoying the morning cup of coffee, started digging into the DOT's AA/BA ruling. Seems that it really is a lot different than the US Air / DAL swap with LGA / DCA.

Some things that stick out:
  • BA/AA only have to LEASE OUT 4 slot pairs for ten years. Then they get them back. If no one wants them, then they don't have to divest them at all.
  • Two of these four slot pairs are tied to Boston service. Which I why I post this on Delta's "Latest and Greatest." Who else would be interested in BOS-LHR? Can Delta make BOS-LHR work twice a day? My guess is no, but maybe once a day could keep a 767 busy.
  • Really, what is the point of Open Skies? With this, there are only two competitors in LHR.
I still don't get how the DOT that made this ruling is the same DOT that ruled against the US Air / Delta swap.

The DOT is run by Ray LaHood,
The White House by Rahm Emmanuel and Mr. Obama, all from the State of Illinois where AMR employs a lot of people, it looks like they are protecting the airline from their backyard.
I doubt DAL will pay AMR for anything... unless it was JFK-LHR and that is not the case.

My understanding is we lose those slots after 90 days if they don't like the way we are trying to sell them. We do not ever get them back.

Amtrak or AMR. Take your pick folks, those are the only two things they're going to allow to exist after we quasi reregulate. We won't regulate, we'll just make it impossible for those we didn't chose to compete and win. I think its obvious, they've chosen winners and its Amtrak, AMR, JB or SWA and to a lesser extent AirTran and UAL. What a bunch of cow manure. Maybe we should've kept the GO in MSP? A swing state! I guess they don't realize where AMR is headquartered?
