"Pineal"...do you guys mean Pinal Airpark near Marana, Az north of Tucson?

Many other professions also get cost of living adjustments. Throw me a COLA like management or even station managers get, & then maybe I'll consider it. Also, many other professions don't move their jr employees around every year. Talk to a NW guy who was jr in the 90's. They'd get bases opened & closed faster then they could get a mortgage.

Respectfully, you need to think about this from a jr guys shoes. With the merger we will have so much re-alignment of aircraft I have NO idea where I'll end up. How am I suppose to sell my house right now? It's worth less then what I mortgaged at. I'll be upside down, so how do I get another loan? And what do I do after I uproot my family to move to base only to get displaced to yet another base? Do I yank them out again? Seems awful selfish to yank my wife and daughter away from their relatives just so I can drive to work. They'll never be able to make any friends until I have the seniority to stay in one place.

This profession is no where close to other professions, not even the military. I was an AF Brat, but my father at least got housing allowance. We get nothing.

Respectfully, commuting is not always a choice. We all don't have the seniority to bounce around the system as we please.

to augment johnso's thoughts, the guy immeadiatley junior to me has held a different base every AE since he was hired (all but one were MD's) To date, he's had to change bases 4 times in less than 2 years. I don't think most companies transfer their employees every 6 months.

Here is what we need. ATL should be the base for what it costs to live. Every other base should have a COLA based on local costs of living. If they displace you to another base due to company decisions to move flying, then they pay for the move, pay closing costs to sell and buy a house, and upon proper documentation pay any amount you are "backwards" in your house if you bought it to move to a domicile. If we had a real relocation package and COLA then the company would not move flying around every six months and we wouldn'g have guys who get displaced every time we have an AE.

I wonder how many de-ice trucks we could buy with the amount of money we are losing for canceling flights in ATL due to snow flurries? Seems like after the last two years it might be a good idea to invest in enough de-ice equipment to run an airline when a little snow shows up. Looks like over 2000 flights in a seven day period for a couple small snow storms.

I agree, it stinks but the above situation is hardly the norm and again, we knew this going in to this job. As a CVG guy, I will probably be looking at commuting or moving and I do believe a better commuting policy is necessary and probably deserving due to the company's future "shuffling".

Sorry but this would never work! The company would be handcuffed! I wish this could work but it won't. Delta would never be able to afford this and keep competitive!! This is why we need better commuting policies! I'm not drinking the company juice just being realistic!!

Not to mention if you end up getting multiple green slips and beginnin to "roll thunder".... everyone and their dog will be checking your schedule to crosscheck that the greenslip was awarded in order correctly.

I'm not kidding. My dog knows my log in! (as per the latest memo, he won't check my schedule when I'm in flight. Otherwise, no treats)

Got your message tonight when I got in... I'll call ya tomorrow. Hope all is well!

Could someone who commutes and uses the jumpseat regularly shoot me a PM?
