Hey Buzz,
WAAAY up in the northeast, Blytheville High School, class of '77. After a stint as US Navy enlisted, I finished up college down in Arkadelphia, and now make home just across the river in Memphis. DC-9 guy (A type, but only for a shade over 3 years now), and hope to hold on to it. Again, really enjoyed your book.

Funny, JB pays $1.43/hour per seat and we would pay $1.07/hour per seat. ASA on their 70 seaters at year 12 is $1.24/hour per seat. We range from $1.50/hr/seat on the DC9-30 to $0.52/hr/seat on 744.

If you paid our 744 top end CAs $1.43/hr per seat you'd pay $576/hr. Sounds fair to me! Using ASA's scale you'd pay $499/hr. Hell if you paid them $1.07/hr per seat like we have already set forth for the E190 then you'd pay 744 A's $431/hr. Well above $208/hr we pay 744 and 777 As now.

I think we should negotiate by seat per hour now and just say we at a minimum want Jetblue rates, or we might settle for regional rates but no lower...

Kind of impressive, but to compare apples to apples you need to look at total pilots costs, but yes, DCI probably does cost more per seat.

The cost has been getting closer...Many of us predicted this 10-15 years ago...Pilot pay and workrules are like water in the end...they seek an equal level....

The one cost that isn't being considered is the "cost creep" issue of getting control of the lower end under the mainline bargaining unit....Factor that in and the cost goes way up.....

Default Our new Portland Base

Alaska Airlines plans to add a new base to its system on June 1. Last week, the airline issued a bid creating a Portland, Oregon, base. The bid also contains an increase in first officers in Anchorage and a decrease in the number of pilots in Seattle and Los Angeles. Currently, Alaska’s pilots are based out of Seattle, Anchorage, and Los Angeles.
Great news! Our Portland base is back.

So I think this is funny. Several of the MLB teams ie Yankees/Mets have requested that Delta change the way we staff our charters with FAs. So they have held "try outs" for FAs. The Yankees have chosen 7 with 20 alternates. So no more senior mommas with suitecases to take home the left overs and NO size 28 red dresses! The Mets have requested ATL FAs only.... ???

Yes, it's true. I heard the same thing from a flight attendant. You now have to "interview" to work charter flights as a flight attendant.

i cant say i blame them. I mean its a charter not a regular line flight. Those teams spend big money and its our jobs to give them what they want to maintain that business. If they want good looking flight attendants then by all means give them good looking flight attendants!!

Now where do i sign up for these charters......

This is how it worked with NWA on the NBA Charters. It's actually all they do. They have to interview specifically for the charters.

Now as far as a team hand picking FA's, that's hilarious.
