Passengers left waiting for hours on plane, airliner blames Saints parade | wwltv.com | New Orleans News, Local News, Breaking News, Weather | News

One reason we will never be paid what some think we should. Read the comments below the story to see just how much esteem the public holds for us.

It probably was poor planning on United's fault. How did our crews fare in N'awlins?

All good points, Bar. I can defintiely see DL playing the "jobs will be lost" card with this. After all, it was a pretty big point of expansion for us with NYC.

It's going to be interesting to see how they play this as the dust settles. It's natural to be down after 2 swift kicks to the bojangles like yesterday. We'll see how it actually plays out.

The best thing to do is not get caught up in massive expansion rumors....and by the same token not get caught up in the opposite either. Reality typically sits somewhere in between.

This winter might as well be 10 years from now as a lot of things are going to have to become more clear before then until we can even begin to get a picture.

Not much I can do but just hang on....

This forum cracks me up. People were going on & on about how the majority of the LGA flying was going to be RJs, & now with the POSSIBILITY of the LGA not happening we are going to be overstaffed again!? LOL, what a joke!

It never ends in this industry. Maybe if I get furloughed I'll pitch a reality show series to a major network to keep me afloat. The dramatic & gossipy life of an airline pilot.

I was in New Orleans the day before and it was a nightmare. Most crews and people had to end up walking a few blocks, all the roads downtown were basically closed. It would have been fun if we had a long layover to enjoy it, but with a short one it was just annoying

I thought this LGA expansion was mainly RJs? It was aquiring slots to places USAir was flying with their turboprops. There may have been some cities we could have flown to with mainline planes, but the majority were to small cities that were flown to by 30+ seat props. We already fly a certian amount of flights to our hubs on mainline equipment, and the flights are already pretty full from LGA. It would have been nice to get that other terminal next door, but I see it full of RJs. This seems like a larger blow to Compass and Comair, not Delta. I just don't see the catastrophic view that some do on here. I am sure it will be resolved, but that would probably mean less RJs, and more mainline taking over for the fewer flights allowed.

Isn't there a 30 day comment period for the DOT? Can't we all just tell them it sucks? That they just need to sign off on it with no strings attached?

Im sure Delta wishs it was this way!! I know I do! So if we don't swap I guess we will keep the mat?? that was a package deal wasn't it... guess we will see in 30days!!

Delta Im sure will figure something out since we will be saving 500billion from JAL and what like 5 million for a bridge to connect terminals in lga??? oh what to spend all that cash on!!!!

I've got to stop reading the comments after these articles. It's absolutely amazing how little people understand about this business. Same bunch of morons that were freaking out in Lansing a few weeks ago. Unbelievable

Good analysis

I too expect something to be worked out. I expect Delta management to deal with this like the smart, strategic, reasoned folks that they are. The rumors of putting employees on the front lines in a political battle are probably NOT correct. (in fact, sorry that I repeated them, even in a denial)
