Enuff,
I would say you are correct if Pilots on this Forum were taking action on the rampant speculation - which would be pretty stupid. On the other hand there is nothing wrong with keeping in tune with the "possibilities" for the sake of supposition.
Scoop - Pondering the possiblities

I see the rumor and speculation on this board no different than looking at the destination WX before you launch...
You have no control over the WX
You probably will go anyways
Its just a forecast so its subject to change, it might be better, it might be worse.
Looking at the WX before you launch helps you formulate a plan (or many plans) instead of just pressing on and finding out at the last minute that things are different from what you expected...
I can't see how as a pilot you wouldn't want to do the same thing with this industry...
YMMV
Cheers
George

Second, Congress didn't pass anything - from what I read, it was the DOT who issued the final rule.

For reference purposes for those who scratch their heads and say "where in the you know what would we fly out of Guam?"
Plenty of places. Lets take another look at GUM via our CALMike friends:

One option that I could see is making Guam a "Far East" hub. Fly 737/757s from South Asian markets (Thailand, Singapore, Australia, Philippines, Vietnam, Hong Kong) to Guam to connect up with widebodies flying from Guam to our US hubs. It allows Korean Air to connect northern China with the US. Divide and conquer.

Those engines are huge.

FtB;
She sure looked pretty yesterday!
As for Asia. GUM or a nice East-West-North-South Hub in GUM and Beijing or Shanghai
Sure bet we could hit Latin America from both.![Big Grin](https://www.airlinepilotforums.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
(allows the US to get around issues with transitory passengers on US soil. Not GUM but the other two)

Stupid question.
I call out sick. During the time I'm sick, I miss a 4-day trip. In the schedulers eyes, I was sick for a total of 6 days.
Do I lose 6 days of pay out of my sick bank, or do they only charge you for the days you were supposed to work?
