That Latin America flight will be Spirited.

How many crews do we have stuck in dc? I know we cancelled everything but I wonder if some got stuck. I was stuck there for 4-5 days back in 2002 or 03 at a hotel at tysons corner. The hotel ran out of food so the only thing opened was a gas station 2 blocks away. So I began walking in the snow and trying to get through the snow banks created by the plows. At one point I was lying on the ground but no cars were even on the road. I thought I was going to die of exhaustion. I gave up and went back to the hotel. That was before I began working out. I bet God was laughing.

In this situation, the layover hotel is far enough from the airport that I have to use a limo service. I'm just wondering how I'm going to get to the airport earlier than normal with the limo service.

The first question was answered. As to getting a ride earlier than scheduled from the long layover hotel, depending on what station you are at, check the sign in sheet and see if any crews are leaving around the time you want to go. I've done this lots of times and just tagged along with an earlier crew.

JAL To Keep Ties With American Air, End Talks With Delta -Report

Feb 7, 2010 08:59:06 (ET)

TOKYO (Dow Jones)--Japan Airlines Corp. (JALSY, 9205.TO), which filed for bankruptcy protection in January, has decided to maintain its current tieup with AMR Corp.'s (AMR) American Airlines and will discontinue talks with Delta Air Lines Inc. (DAL), the Asahi Shimbun reported Sunday without quoting sources.

A formal announcement is scheduled later this week.

The two U.S. airlines are competing for a partnership with their Japanese peer to gain access to JAL's lucrative network of flights in Asia.

Opinions among officials of the struggling Japanese carrier, commonly known as JAL, have been strong to switch to Delta and its SkyTeam airline alliance from American's Oneworld alliance.

But JAL's new chairman, Kazuo Inamori, and quasi-government Enterprise Turnaround Initiative Corp. of Japan have concluded that a switch to the different airline alliance would be costly and risky for JAL restructuring. JAL joined Oneworld alliance in 2007 and has been in tieup with American in the form of a code-sharing agreement since 1999.

Inamori said earlier this month JAL aims to finalize its choice of a business partner as soon as possible, as it seeks to get back on its feet under court-led restructuring.

Well we know how accurate the media has been thus far, so I'll wait for an official announcement.

Stupid APC question ...

How do we remove the sticky notes on the DAL threads when looking at the Major's category? I'm tired ot seeing DAL overkill on APC.

Thanks.

You're asking if say, you are NYC based, and the trip starts in ATL? I don't know the answer. When you look at the rotation, the first leg from MAC to ATL - then ATL to wherever. They might change the MAC to your base - dunno.

I do know that before this latest LOA there was no pay protection if the MAC flight canceled. The rumor is that the LOA that was just announced a few days ago, changed that.

Hey Clamp,

When you pass the 737's you do hear the song "The High and the Mighty"

Where do we go from here?

ANA or China which has more passengers. NWA survived in Japan for many years without JAL, but the number of Japan passengers has been declining due to the recession. So, maybe the new direction is China, where the economy is emerging with more passengers and the possibility of aligning code share with a large China carrier would be more profitable.

I thought we were talking to a couple of domestic Chinese airlines? Maybe we can buy JALs 747s and put them to use in China.

and maybe open that hub in DFW and take over Latin America via FLL. I guess that is part of the chess game, we still have nrt, it might not be worth as much as it was but how much was it worth in the age of the 787/777 anyways? Maybe it'll be right sized and while amr ties up cash and lawyers in a difficult ba-amr ati we go after Latin America via spirit and restart encroaching on their stuff.
