Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
Listen, in addition to flying jets safely and skillfully for Delta (and I'm not a company or union wonk), I also write professionally. I understand that if I put pen to paper and make an accusation, it had better be 100% legit. Your stuff is not. Buck up and back it up. If you're going to pull some anecdotal Western and PanAm stuff, then do your homework. There are a LOT of Braniff, Eastern and TWA guys that would kill to be where you and I are. In fact, I KNOW I could reach out and find some Republic guys who would eat your bacon. Here's the deal Carl. We're a team now. I appreciate the fNWA culture of challenging "the Man." I welcome it. Just don't challenge your fDAL brothers. You are ill-advised and ill-armed. We didn't ask for this merger any more than you guys did. It was forced on us as it was forced on you. I grow tired of your crap.
Because your post was not about IT Carl, it was about your conversations with your Western and PanAm buddies about how DAL does business. Go back and read your stuff man. I don't have the time to edit everybody here. If you make statements, man up. If you are chatting with your Western and PanAm buddies, then take the time to look up your Braniff, Eastern and TWA buddies. Its only fair, right? You are cherry picking at best...and its not endearing.

I feel where you guys are coming from. I wish you had your pensions. I wish we had decent recall rights. But, bashing everything NWA is getting old. And not listening to your new brothers when we make suggestions is not very welcoming. "You're doing a great job" should not be followed by "Now shut up!"

I think if you subsituted "Delta" for "NWA" in the above, you will see a different point of view. How many different topics have been discussed on here from IT to jumpseat to pay over 80 hrs that say the fDAL system sucks. That's a bit of bashing in my book. PS. I DO like a lot of what I'm hearing you guys did. It's in the presentation that "Geeze the way you guys do it is stupid, here's how we did it and its much better." If we can get rid of the first part, the discussion will be much better. And yes I know it cuts both ways. Both former pilot groups need to do this.
To everyone,
I think everyone needs to take a "chill pill" and calm down. Nothing happens over night. I think the company has been so focused on SOC the past year that, yes, there probably was the attitude of "Thanks for your input, we'll look into it." Hopefully now that SOC has come and gone, they will start looking seriously at these issues. But, come on, it's only been a month since SOC!!! Change does not happen over night. Especially in a corporation this big. It does sound like there are changes coming down the line and going to be implemented soon like some version of the call in honest etc.
Fire Away everyone!!!

You're right, of course. Only the grand master could make his point on the floor so well..
Looking back, I think it was the jumpseat thing that got everyone so crabby. Commuting is stressful enough, but after removing a major support mechanism, such as automated booking, and then shortening the time down by almost half, then yea, no wonder people are crabby.
Well, off to work....

What the heck happened here tonight?!?
I'll fly my trip, come home, enjoy my wife, kids and dog. In the end, I'm blessed to have my health and a job I still enjoy.
Good luck to us all!

Patience, Carl, patience. When you're in the trenches fighting the war, there really isn't much free time to debate best practices. That only comes in between skirmishes.
Funny that you say that Carl. I know of at least one ALPA committee doing just that. Now that SOC is over, and the integration is completed, they are doing an in-depth study of current and previous practices under both CBAs to develop a list of proposed contractual changes to present at the appropriate time.

I agree. I am already encouraged by the openness to change to best practices I'm seeing post SOC. Rome was not built in a day.
And for the record there are a number of fDAL procedures I really like... Ironically I see Flt Ops being far more open to adopting best practices than I do the union.
OK, phhewww, I'm drinking a few cocktails now. Sorry guys.
I will say this...the fNWA guys I've met over the last year, with one exception, are outstanding and are guys I would fly with at any point, any where, at any time. Ive flown with fDAL guys that are tools as well. I have come to understand that we are all cut from the same cloth yet come from two different cultures. Not as different as some would have us believe, but different still. In fact, what really amazes me is that a lot of the guys I flew with and loved in the Air Force are now seeing things from a totally different perspective. Its how it works, apparently. I thought flying safe was flying safe. Apparently, we can fly safely and do it differently.
I look forward to the marriage of NWA and DAL. It had to happen, its a good thing for all of us in the end, and its rocking the world for other companies...which is also a good thing. I am, however, frikkin sick and tired of the beeyatching about this merger from both sides. It has sucked for both sides. I fly with fDAL guys who can't get over it. I read on this forum fNWA guys who, apparently, can't get over it. For God's sake, and for our collective sakes, can we just accept it, show up, sign in, fly a beautiful jet and make happy?
I sincerely understand the angst of a former noble carrier who no longer can use their call sign or flash their colors. I do. I'd be ****ed as well if it were me. Its not. Its us. Come on guys. As I tell my 3rd grader Nu, buck up. Life's hard, but its only hard if you make it hard.
OK. Everybody hold hands, break out a nice glass of Scotch, and crank up some Adam Ant!!
