Just another sign AIG is a zombie and should have been wound down by existing legal tools rather than been turned into a government Frankenstein with no head, or direction.

ILFC was a powerhouse that was too large to spin off, nobody had the money to buy it. But, it along with AIGCS, Commercial P&C, Life and Personal Lines was a profitable concern which could have easily survived after the Financial Products division was allowed to go bankrupt and default.

The government has taken a near Trillion dollar company, invested 180 Billion Dollars (plus) and by removing any incentive to succeed created a black hole which now prices it's products so low as to be a threat to force other legitimate insurers into insolvency.

At this point ILFC should be spun off (it now is not nearly as valuable as it was) and the balance should be paid back to the US Treasury.

For Doug Steenland, this is yet another gift. AIG rewards incompetence (and competence) very generously.

For aircraft buyers, expect the government to enter the market that AIG / ILFC vacated, bt at even easier terms during election cycles.

O'Neill said he tried to warn Vice President Dick Cheney that growing budget deficits-expected to top $500 billion this fiscal year alone-posed a threat to the economy. Cheney cut him off. "You know, Paul, Reagan proved deficits don't matter," he said, according to excerpts. Cheney continued: "We won the midterms (congressional elections). This is our due." A month later, Cheney told the Treasury secretary he was fired.
Timmy ain't gonna make that mistake.

One aspect of this displacement was getting people in position to furlough and we must admit, the timing of displacements, training, seasonal flying adjustments and DC9 retirements are uncanny.

J MHO.
or its because the company has increased the narrowbody flying by 10% to offset cutting the regional jets out of the loop while also decreasing international flying. I see it as a shift in flying and the airline couldnt operate the new schedule without having the bodies in place.

Just heard back from Crew Planning, the revised training/conversions are "set in Jello" Network still tweaking the summer schedule. They will know better by April.

The names have been changed to protect the teacher, the actual names are Slow, Bar, ACL, Carl, etc. I knew this would happen.

Keep writing gentleman, we're all learning a lot by this back and forth and personally grateful. Also, I'm entertained by the fact that the smartest guys on the block know how to spel the best.

208. “Reserve assignment weighting” (RAW) means a value assigned to a reserve pilot that is
based on his accumulated credit in a bid period and his CROC days in a bid period. A
reserve pilot’s RAW is used to sequence him for assignment to open time. Such value
will be calculated using the following formula, rounded to the nearest integer:
Reserve assignment weighting = [(A ÷ C) x 75] + [(B ÷ D) x 100], where:
A = the reserve pilot’s credit hours accumulated in the bid period plus prorated credit
hours associated with his period of unpaid absence and/or vacation and/or training
(other than qualification or distributed training), if any. The number of prorated
hours associated with his period of unpaid absence and/or vacation and/or training
(other than qualification or distributed training) will be determined by multiplying the
number of days of his unpaid absence and/or vacation and/or training (other than
qualification or distributed training) by the reserve guarantee and then dividing that
product by 30 or 31 (days of the bid period).
B = the reserve pilot’s CROC days plus prorated CROC days associated with his period
of absence other than sick leave, if any (e.g., vacation, training, MLOA, PLOA). The
number of prorated CROC days associated with his period of absence other than sick
leave will be determined by multiplying the number of days of his absence by 18 (oncall
days per bid period) and then dividing that product by 30 or 31 (days of the bid
period).
C = the reserve guarantee.
D = number of on-call days in a full month of reserve.
209. “Reserve day” means a day on which a reserve pilot is scheduled

If you really wanted to know here it is from Section 2: Definitions of the PWA........

One of my favorites! After I got hired at DL, over the span of 5 months I went from the CRJ to the MD-88 to the 75/76. I felt like that guy at hte end of it all.

How is that for Non-Committal?

Like I said, new picture and probably a new camera in two weeks or so.
