Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
Battle tested doesn't mean joining with management to stop a USAir takeover. Battle tested doesn't mean losing retirements, pay and work rules in bankruptcy court. Battle tested means withdrawing your services from a management team that wants to destroy you and your union. DALPA has never experienced that.
I hope you're right that DALPA will have a strategy for the talks in 2012. I'd be happier if they announced their strategy to begin those talks this year so that we have a new contract ON the amendable date of our current contract. I also hope they have a strategy of preparing the membership for self help in the event that management wants to begin talks in 2012 and finish them around 2015 with a concessionary final offer.
Unless DALPA has a marked change in leadership, it is clear to me that our success will greatly depend upon how nice management decides to be with us.

+1 Well said Carl.
I won't sling poo DALPAs way (at least not too hard), but "battle tested" is not the correct description - maybe more accurate would be that they have had a successful "staff tour".
DALPA has extracted modest gains since BK (COLA), but I'd like to see DALPA LEVERAGE its opportunities more effectively. Right now we only have rumors of growth, synergies, hiring, JAL JV, etc.
Looking through the milky window of the locked candy store, I'm interested in how we can end up with a bag full of candy. We have already paid for it. Seems to me there's currently about $1.1B that Delta just cannot wait to un-ass. I'd be happy to give them my bank routing number.

For cripes sakes I would be making more than an 88A!! Heck almost as much as a 20 year 767A does today. Just plain nutso!

Interesting.
The FOs then were making way more than the captains are now.
Our payrates have been decimated.
We need to get some of that back BEFORE December 2012.
Nothing illegal, but something firm. It can be done.

How do you think those with more than 12 years feel - not to mention the fact that now also with lower pay we have to fund our own retirement out of the smaller pot of money.
Disclaimer - things could be worse just look at ...
pilot mumbling: "Has anyone seen my stapler?"
bastian: "We just fixed the glitch"
-----------
Noone can answer that accurately.
My take is that there is a clear path to approximately $18/share (auto sell at $17.49 ish) Although I am surprised there hasn't been a pullback to the mid 11s prior to the run up.
This is not advice dyodd.
