Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?

All these other discussions are fun but its mostly just crystal ball gazing.
I put in my bids and if I get the award that's great.

ACL,
I'll be curious as to what DAL does with regard to their connection carriers. IIRC, while in bankruptcy ASA was sold to SkyWest and part of the deal was a non cancellable 20 year contract.
I think at the same time DAL got some financing from GE Capital in exchange for DAL long term leasing some 70 seat RJs.
Personally, I hope they (DAL MGT) take very hard look at the whole DCI operation and bring a considerable amount of that flying back to mainline, especially now that we have a bunch of DC-9s.

Any chance you guys might want to switch to the NWA APA system for bids? It's every month and you just get what you get if they are giving it and you are senior enough to get it.
I mean I have no clue what the heck you guys have been talking about for the past eight pages.
I know none of us really control the award system they use, but I am sure I am going to miss the easy, simple and straightforward NWA APA system.

My current position is at request #6. Everything above is a wish list, everything below is what I want to do if displaced. Note as a commuter, I would rather retrain into an Airbus 320 as a block holder than commute to reserve in my 757 and on down the line.
Now, I know there is no seperate block/reserve which probably makes or new cards more complex.
Oh, and having them roll once a month is nice. Any AE or a guy who retires is like pulling a hanger out of a box of hangers. It will alway "grab" several others. What ACL described as positions which need backfill and those who don't is like our's too. But, unless it's a fat position we always back fill.
Anyway, enough of the rambeling. But, KISS seems to be something good for all and something I hope the TWG looks at.

I'm a AE newbi. Can someone please explain the AE bid preference blocks?
Sel -- Nbr -- Base -- Eqp -- Pos -- Low Nbr -- Low% -- Reg Only -- Tr Bv
I get Sel, Nbr, Base, Eqp, Pos; but I do not understand Low Number, Low %, Reg Only, and Tr Bv.
Can someone please give a good run down on these and how you would use them and the syntax required?
Thanks ...-Fatty

Low % is the same but uses a percentage. ie= if you put 25 then you don't want the award unless you are in the top 25%.
Reg only means you don't want the award unless you will be a regular line holder (using crew resources' best guess)
I think Tr Bv has to do with training bypass. Its for guys near mandatory retirement. They can get the award and get paid but never go to school. Don't worry about it until you're age 64.

There are a few other areas that are deal breakers too. Look for DAL to use them as necessary to get the concessions that they want.
There is a place in the DAL portfolio for DCI and our regional affiliates. The cost structure and scope of operations needs to be reworked. It is not a pilot issue, but a financial one. DCI is a money looser for the parent company. If that does not change, it will not be good for any party involved.

Having just been furloughed from Comair, their prognosis is what I am mainly interested in...
There are many at Comair that think DL began starving them of airplanes because of the lack of Comair's MEC to negotiate with mgt. But you mention that it is not about the pilots. Others say that DL has contracts for minimum flying with the others, and that Comair is being used to take up the slack in reduction of flying.
If it is purely cost... our pilots are fairly heavy on the senority side, and therefore an expensive work force comparatively, I suppose that does not bode well then for us?

We could turn the excess CRJ200s into cargo planes:

Sorry, don't know how to make the image work but thats a cargo CRJ.
