Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
I don't care who in management knows. Nobody should.
I still can't believe anybody is fretting over the fact that management might be listening. Especially you ACL since you are considering a union position some day.
Here's my new litmus test for a guy running for union office:
Step 1: Put an anonymous note in front of the candidate saying that "management may be listening."
Step 2: See if he wets himself.

I am agreeing with King when I state "management" is watching. They should, it is one stop shopping when it come to DAL pilots. It is a great litmus test of how irked this group will be over this or that. The cross section of opinions on here is amazing. If I was trying to gauge if a decision was well taken or if it would be well taken I would have one of the ppl on here drop it and see how it flies. The results would allow you to tweak it, or add to it, if you were willing to take a little more heat. In effect this board is the greatest "Consumer Opinion Poll" for management and the union.
You say let them see, I agree, I do not care as it is what it is and no matter how "secretive" someone wants or tries to be with posing on the internet, it will always end up in someone else's hands. Why? Because there are ppl in every organization that are willing to sell part of their group and themselves' to move up.
To end the rant, post away, just realize that those who take the time to stay informed, listen to every bit of data they can find and connect the dots have many wondering how the heck they came up with that. To many like myself it is easy. It passes the "I would do that if I were running the ship" test. This group is diverse as this board is and because of that, it has gain a ton more attention that anyone wanted. Use that accordingly.
Rumor, my buddy who knows someone who was laid off in HR 10 years ago said that we will be needing 800 bodies over the next two years. Take it for what it is worth.
That comment will cost ya. They do not like ppl complaining about scope.
Considering the fact that I view this thread many more times than I post (sad, I know), and that I'm sure many others have the same habits, it's safe to say that there probably aren't THAT many outside lurkers.
I can just imagine it now: in some deeply hidden cubicle in Va Ave, there is the special assignment management person with one task: Find out who everyone on APC is. Learn who their family members are and what they do.... their pets...and their underwear of preference. These things are all crucial to the future of Delta and finding out how to crack the concrete bunker that is the pilot ranks here.

In my opinion this news is the result of certain DAL execs going down to Embraer last year. They wanted an airframe that had better costs than the CS-100. The 195 is a good start and we may start with that, an improved wing et al under the same type would close the deal for DAL. (Just my opinion of course )

I think we have a very strong group of pilots, unfortunately the military background and mission mindset runs too strong in the pilot group and MEC. It has made us very organized and disciplined (good), but at the same time not questioning enough of higher authority when our interests diverge. My impression is too many view the Co. mission and pilot mission as the entirely the same with RA the Wing CO and the MEC as the Squadron.....I view the rumor that everyone on the MEC has a callsign as problematic, not cool
The company has promised a 100 seat replacement ever since the DC-9's were retired in 1991. They role out the 100 seat rumors and roadshow every time they want something from the pilot group or its contract time. 18 years now of hearing about the mythical 100 seat airframe. Its not coming. Regardless of the rumors management does not believe they can fly a aircraft in that size range and make a profit. Please don't jump in hear about how it can be done. Its does not make a bit of difference. The only thing that matters is that management does not believe it can be done since they will sign the purchase order. Look for lots of MD-90's but there will not be a 100 seat order now or in the future.
It has to do with economics or DALPA's willingness to part with 40% of the domestic lift. If the airplane builders can finally build a jet that runs with a mainline CASM you will see it here, if we are willing to give it up, you will see it at DCI. If we are not willing to do either, you will be correct.
IMO the CS-100 falls short. Its CASM is the same at a CRJ-900. That makes it a deal breaker in my opinion. It will be the CS-300, 195 or the 195X. (or anything else they come up with)
The issue is finding a jet with a CASM they can live with on mainline. I truly beleive that the MEC is not willing to budge on this. If they do, I will be furloughed and it will no longer be my issue. ( a blessing for many)
Alright all caught up, off to enjoy a nice day. Have fun fighting the battles, I got a birthday to go plan!
