At least it wasn't the hat. God forbid you ever forget the hat. I think that'll be my new screen name at the "new" place. "forgot my hat."

But you want to know whats really an ouch, you can buy a 2-3 year old Cessna 172S with the G1000 cockpit for around $140-$150K. OUCH! Nice resale value.

Luckily if you want one there are nearly 60 C172S' on the market right now. If you win the lottery tonight I have even better news, there are plenty of G550s on the used market. Back in 07 you could expect to pay as much as $5M over the new $60M price tag to just get a used one, if you could find one, so as to not wait years in line. Today, same 03-05 models have fallen to $35-$40M. Early 2000 GVs are even better, low $20M range. Thats a SAV depression. I wonder if its still $75K for initial GV training.

I still can't believe they can command a price like that for a freaking C172. Much less that chinese made piece of crap that they are calling the skycatcher. No thanks. Won't ever fly a chinese made trainer.

Speaing of commie stuff, I'm gonna buy that Su-37 that was for sale out of RFD. Daddy like! That thing uses like 2500 feet of runway before it goes vertical, a nice dark smoke trail, and loud enough to wake the dead.

In Soviet Russia, lottery wins you.

The other thing about sick policy, REDACTED FOR THREAD's SAKE.
Perhaps we can start a bunch of talk about illegal job action but start doing it in russian like a few months ago. I'm all over that.

Seriously though... how freaking rediculous that one idiots post about "management is watching, all seeing, and all knowing" can cause people to run like a kid jumping into a flock of pigeons is beyond me.

Richard, if you're reading this: Thanks for the good merger so far. Don't screw it up now.

It might be real or it might be posturing. Looks like its a stretched E195 with bigger engines, probably better performance and I wouldn't be surprised if its a different wing like they did between the 170 and 190. A stretched 195 will be a very big plane fwiw. Its not your FO's 170.

I bring this up here for one reason, we just heard today no new NEW planes. We know the 90 is being brought in -30/-40 replacement and the -50s are staying for a while. So hopefully not a net loss of positions at DAL. But that doesn't mean no new planes in 2012 for a real -30/-40 replacement that is similiar in size, i.e. a pilot growth plane.

Is the C-Series and DAL possibilities dead in light of the big 90 grab? Or does the Embraer move possibly show signs that the C-Series is being seriously considered and EMB needs to respond? Or that EMB is just trying to split interest and demand? I don't know, just wondering where the C-Series (i.e. the most likely 100 seat replacement) sits with DAL.

Proposed stretch dubbed E-195X by Embraer
My guess is that the "no new planes" is the story this year. The company is trying to rein in their capital expenditures and debt load - I guess it's making Wall Street nervous. Also, companies seem to make bad long-term decisions to keep cash flow going to pay debt.

That IS a big plane - this quote got my attention: A source with knowledge of the situation says Embraer responded to a request for proposals to replace American Airlines' McDonnell Douglas MD-80s with the so-called E-195X.

Regional aircraft - whatever. These are mainline-sized aircraft, doing mainline service. They need to be flown with mainline pilots. Just because it's the same company that made the Brasilia doesn't make it a commuter airplane. Same with Bombardier.

I think as long as we can get MD-90s at bargain prices, Delta will. Why pay all sorts of money for a new plane when a used one will do more, for less? The difference in price can pay for a lot of mx. Of course, there is a limit to the number of MD-90s in the world... but look how long it took to get the China Eastern ones? I've been hearing "more MD-90s are coming" for two years!

If you can't even count on your group to not fold due to an internet character, the problem is far worse than I would ever have imagined.

Best to you FTB.

That definitely sounds like your trying to step back from those earlier ridiculous comments of yours. But despite what you say now, you WERE trying to stop debate. Allow me to repost what you said earlier:

The only thing worse than your post, is the effect it had on people posting.

No they shouldn't Denny. You should never allow some internet character to threaten you away from stating what you believe. Never.

Is this the 5.7% increase in pilot block hours we're hearing? I think people keep thinking this is "whatever % decrease in flying Delta announced last month".

I think Dickson or someone said system capacity change does not pilot block hours change. (my example: parking 2 50 seat RJ but adding an additional DC-9 flight may be no change in Delta system capacity but results in increased flying for Delta pilots).

-1/31 all call signs will switch to Delta
-working on flight deck jepps, will get there eventually
-new a330 sim in MSP coming
-distance training on the 9/320/330/747 soon
-2 777s coming
-2 738s coming
-12 MD 90s coming
-all turbo props gone by 2012
-JFK will be for Asia/Europe/Africa/Latin America/West/Caribbean ops primarily
-LGA will be for Midwest/Southeast/mid Atlantic ops primarily
-ATL will see less 50s and more 9s passing through
-MEM will remain steady but will see more West/SW ops.
-SEA-ERs are headed there and will probably be in the May/June AE. The ERs need to come from somewhere and CVG will probably take the hit.
-LA-They are working on moving AK air into our terminal
-Africa will continue to expand but TSA is a huge issue with that expansion
-East coasters to Asia goes best through DTW than ATL
-Asia looks like it will be a battle of United/ANA vs DAL/JAL/Korean
-5.7% increase in flying this summer vs last summer.
-With the up tick in cross Atlantic bookings and the new AC coming it hints at possible hiring. They will offer the pilots on furlough bypass(approx 350) the first shot at re entry prior to hiring. Since it takes a min of 9 months to get newbies up to speed the AE in NOV will be a tell all. Because of the increase in domestic flying, if the Atlantic bookings continue to grow we will be short handed.
-The AE in May/June will be relatively small but will account for the remainder of displacements from the 30/40s being parked. They still have 1/2 to go on those displacements.
-The NOV AE will include AC base changes
excellent! Thanks

I don't care who in management knows. Nobody should.

I still can't believe anybody is fretting over the fact that management might be listening. Especially you ACL since you are considering a union position some day.

Here's my new litmus test for a guy running for union office:

Step 1: Put an anonymous note in front of the candidate saying that "management may be listening."

Step 2: See if he wets himself.
