It is based on Pre-tax income which will come at the bottom of the income statement, just below the special gains/losses and reorg/merger related costs. Bottom line, no profit sharing this year, but hopefully next.
In the end no one is leaking NDA info, it is all dot connecting but many have been good at connecting the dots.
I hate it when I am wrong.... You are correct it must be in ground mode for direct displacement. But from my 8000+ hours of bus time I still found it landed like any other plane in a x-wind. Seems like too many guys get caught up in the different laws and forget its an airplane.
The real question is what is profit sharing based on? Can they keep writing down costs to conceal the profits so as to not have to pay out? Honest question as I'm not sure how it works.
Delta's net loss was $25 million, or $0.03 per share, for the December 2009 quarter.
Delta's net loss for 2009 was $1.2 billion, including $169 million in special items. Excluding special items and $1.4 billion of fuel hedge losses, Delta's net profit for 2009 was $291 million.
Delta ended 2009 with $5.4 billion in unrestricted liquidity, a $400 million increase year over year.

Sorry...I found this one instead!!!
I hope this passes the all the tests!!!
I agree, connecting the dots is just pure fun, but the company has taken a keen interest in this thread. I am willing to bet they know most the players, or at least have a good idea.

Well, there has been talk of moving this fun off of APC to something a little less public, BUT....
But the fact of the matter is that some pilots are just "breastfeeders", and it wouldn't matter where you posted it, if they have access to it, they'd have a copy of the relevant posts with an executive summary typed up for management and/or ALPA leadership (is there any real distinction between these two at this point?) on a daily basis.
Over on the old NWALPA webboard, we had guys who were serious DAL wannabes, and they'd copy the day's discussions, and they'd be over on the Parkway at the speed of light. It was kinda fun, tho, once we figured it out.
Like guys who steal hats from the crew room, you're always going to have a sub-set of guys out for number one...even more so than the rest of us, and they'd be more than happy to serve the rest of us up if push came to shove because (insert one or more excuses from the list below):
A) They have a family (like the rest of us don't)
B) They live in base and you should just move to base
C) They don't "believe" in unions
D) See themselves as "management"
E) See themselves still on "the mission"
F) You should just "suck it up and take one for the team"
G) Need to score points for that management gig
H) Feverishly believe that any money they save the company will somehow wind up in their pocket.
I ) Need to tie their horse up to someone to get that cushy job national (points for planning ahead, I guess).
And of course, should we point this out to them, they'd simply say we'd do the same if we were in their shoes...
