Not correct. It's obvious that it's seen as a move backward! I did feel the previous window was too short, as well.

Like I said, I'm just trying to figure out where this 10 day number comes from.

A lot of the weird DL tech stuff that needed updating is going to be improved over the next while. Remember it was just a race to SOC up until this point. Now they will go back over and polish stuff. I've heard the IT guys are going to make large improvements on many many areas.

Online booking is key. In the absence of online booking, a stay at home wife is a pretty good substitute.....
Taking your logic further, why not make the booking window 1 hour prior. Or maybe first one to the gate gets the J/S. As far as competitiveness goes it makes no difference. We all play by the same rules. The distinction seems to boil down to convenience and peace of mind versus being able to make adjustments and still have an equal shot at the J/S. Personally, I'd rather have a longer window to take care of the booking. If I make later adjustments, I'll look at my options at that time.

First come, first served. Means. Exactly. That.

The clock strikes noon, and the person with the quickest finger on the enter key wins. See, computers are really, really fast, and can tell the difference between now and now down to the millisecond.

I mean, I undestand at DAL, "online booking" probably means you have to order your punch card 2-4 weeks in advance from the "first place, right place" person, then you have to painstakenly punch it (no hanging chads, please!), then gently place it in the pile of other punch cards where it all gets loaded into the Univac in a big pile when the sundial showed high noon...but at NWA, where we had "big boy toys", it worked very, very well.

Sheesh....

Well, Captain a$$holio, it seems there would be a possibility that going to online booking might change things up a bit. Call me crazy for entertaining such a thought.

Don't worry, Gunship, Nu generally wears long sleeve uniform shirts. He can't help himself!

Wait, wait, wait. You're talking about for the jumpseat? Sheesh, you guys already nonrev ahead of us on our own metal, now you want priority for the jumpseat too?

Yes. If it weren't for Delta, you wouldn't be flying that metal.

Actually....yes! Our first shot across the bow to the company should be to propose:

1. Priority on non-rev and js on anything with a widget painted on it
2. 10.5 or so js window, online, usable from a smart phone
3. One day priority for guys going home vs. going to work

because:

1. It's mainline feed, mostly profit guaranteed, and paid for by our concessions
2. It makes the math easy on a calendar basis, and leaves a reasonable time to make sure you're at a computer sometime during the window
3. It's time to grow a set....there's a reason we had the Call-In-Honest policy up north...if your priority in life is to serve the company and worry about your family/lawn/cat/Harley later....you're inverted.

My .02

btw...the cat thing was for you Nu!

I may have misunderstood, but I took this post to mean js priority after the operating dci carriers pilots, but prior to other dci pilots. How does it work on a cz jumpseat if I show up and a skywest or comar guy also shows up? I know I'd go behind a cz guy, but what about other dci's?

Also, I agree something needs to be done about the 50-seater cg/w&b problem. They need to build that into the empty weight or figure out a policy similar to our no-bump for payload optimization policy. I regularly have problems with pinnacle, but rarely to never get bumped from comair or mesaba. Not sure what's up with pinnacles w&b program, but I just don't understand how comair or mesaba operates the same
aircraft with much less frequent problems. I HATE commuting on pinnacle
for exactly this reason.

Also, would you tell them if they want to be an ER A then they need to watch this short pro 7ER commercial from Delta and learn that while landing the plane hard is FUN and REAL, its not real fun for everyone else but in the reel world it looks cool: YouTube - 1994 Delta Airlines Advert and this one teaches any A on how to do an international flight attendant brief at Delta: Delta 1984 Commercial

Thanks,
FTB

Why dont we ever have any cool commercials anymore?

What "set" did you grow? It was a management policy not contained in your contract.
