Slow,

Sorry, should have been more clear. I was talking about the leaving ALPA discussion......

But, I didn't know you had those claims too.

I'd make fun of lawyers, but I was at Colonial Williamsburg once when I was based at Langley AFB (taking the tours with my parents probably, but I love museums) and they talked about that during the summer, everyone would go to the capital building to watch people suing each other. Guess Judge Judy before there was a Judge Judy.

This suing each other thing is in our DNA.

You can write all you want to your Reps. and it will go nowhere.

The power is in the numbers and the only way National is going to listen is if we organize to de-certify them, then we ask for what we want.
Everyone be careful, remember you are to give your dues with a joyful heart and not ask quesitons about where it goes. Its none of your business.

I'm being sarcastic. I don't know if anything is going on right now that remotely warrants this but for discussion purposes I guess we could, if ever the situation warranted, stop paying our dues and go in to bad standing. That would get some attention. But remember you've got to put that 2% away because if you ever want back in, and you will, you'll have to pay it all back and they probably charge interest. I don't know.

I'd say this, if ALPA was listening to me, which they don't, but if they did then I'd say don't spend a dime unless you'd be proud to account for it in front of the pilots in a crewroom. Agatha Christie once said, where large sums of money are concerned it is advisable to trust nobody, therefore don't be upset if we hold pitchforks while we talk, it comes with the territory.

If I was talking to my fellow pilots, as much as I like to antagonize I would say I've heard things that ALPA has done that made everyone mad and didn't explain but in fact really was for our benefit. But they never could tell you flat out and for good reason- otherwise you wouldn't have benefited. Give DALPA a little time.

Can't do that anymore. In 1991 ALPA changed the contract to Agency Shop.
If you stop paying dues, the company is contractually bound to terminate your employment.

APA is a different animal because of the way they have behaved, they have no credibility.
ALPA has always had a voice in DC because they represented the majority of the Legacy pilots, if we're not in anymore, they would be mostly a Regional union.
I'm not saying, the hell with it, let's leave right now, but we need to do something to change things around and we should not be afraid of the "we lose our voice in DC" argument, because with all the "clout in DC" it didn't stop anyone from raping our profession and gutting our pensions and then allowing age 65.

It would be a hoot to see all the national types come down to kiss our widgets if there was ever a serious representation drive.

But like I said, I doubt it would ever go even that far.

I had the same question last week, and scheduling walked me through how to do it. Use the same drop/add page, but under rotation number put how many day trip you want preceded with an *. Example-*3, for a 3 day trip. I don't know if you can be more specific than that though.
Hope that helps.
