Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
How do we go about re-structuring ALPA, so not one penny of our dues, go to non-DAL issues? (RJ's, UAL's $44 million, etc).
You can write all you want to your Reps. and it will go nowhere.
The power is in the numbers and the only way National is going to listen is if we organize to de-certify them, then we ask for what we want.

careful you don't cut yourself on the double edged sword. The pot of money is also used to pay things like strike benefits. I am sure that the Delta pilots could survive on their own as a stand alone union but to answer your question, a stand alone is the only way to prevent your money from flowing to non DAL issues. If you don't want to share then don't be a part of ALPA.

If we're only using +/- 50% of what we're paying into alpa, it shouldn't take too long to fund our very own SCF.
Heyas Guys,
There was a lawsuit about this very thing at NWA. Senior guys who felt the distribution of the DC plan unfairly benefited the junior pilots.
When they got slapped down, they switched their sails to the "age discrimination" tact, and that didn't work out either.
I believe the appeals process on that is still pending.

I didn't want to interupt the 'purely theoretical' discussion our southern brothers were having. But, you boys realize that this may have given Capt Tanksley et al new life.
Welcome to our world...............

The one thing I know is that doing nothing should not be an option. ALPA National is now a better career for some of our own pilots than their DAL jobs, we need tho change that and the only way we may be able to do that, is taking the attractiveness of that career away.
I think that as the pilots for the largest carrier in the country, we would definitely still have a voice in D.C.

The south discussion wasn't purely theoretical. There's still one outstanding suit on our claim allocation (pilots who retired before the age 65 change) and one appeal from a LTD pilot on a case that was dismissed on summary judgement for ALPA by the lower court. There have been a host of other legal complaints from junior, senior, young, old and deadzoners with all resulting in no cause for action (so far).

APA doesn't exactly have a history of success in that arena, and they were the largest pilot group for some time. Well, that's not exactly correct. They yelled loudly, but nobody listened!
