Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
I should have added a comma, A 765 was displaced to my seat, I then was displaced to another seat. Trickle down effect if you will. My question is; Is this a result of the single list or the result of an aircraft realignment that was bound to happen. (Note I do not care where I am going, I am just using my situation for arguments sake.) Add to it the company did not fill all of the ER vacancies posted which added to the "trickle down effect."
I need to pull up the award but are these stipulations for the fenced jets or all jets?

You ask the EXACT question needed answering. Dispacements are a result of the SOC and the need to RUN AN AIRLINE! To suggest somehow that any dispacement (and therefore violating #3 term and condition or whatever) is due to the single list is ridiculous and just perpetuates the whole 20+ year Red/Green/Blue fiasco of the past. You can't be serious can you?
Everyone knows of the fences...but think of the possibilities. The fences are for the very senior guys in this company. Even if we get a few more 747's, the trickle up effect would be great. We South guys never had hopes to fly a 747. But as the 747 positions fill up, there will be vacancies in the 330, 755, 320 etc... The same is true if We get 777's. DALN guys will get some chances to bid the openings in the 765, ER, 767 etc.... I dont think the fences are terrible, but then again, I am a decade away from holding those fenced aircraft!!! Just my opinion!!!
Phantom,
Your concern is valid if JAL shut down the 747 program overnight. If; however, they slowly phased out the 747 program it would give DAL (or another airline) time to phase them in.
Instead of DAL (or another airline) hiring them as temporary employees why couldn't they continue to operate as JAL giving themselves and DAL (or another airline) sufficient time to train pilots?
This was how DAL did it after 911 when over 1000 pilots where furloughed, the process was spread out over about 15 months (Nov 2001 to Jan 2003) to allow the training department to get guys in the right seat.
On another subject the fence "angst" continues to surprise me. 90% of the guys on this board will probably not bid either the 747 or the 777 in the next 5 years so we will benefit from any widebody aquisitions. If we get 25 747s let the NW guys fly them - less NW guys bidding into other positions If we get 25 777s let the DAL guys fly them - same beneficial result for most guys. - Its all good
Whatever we do lets accept the ruling and move on. Lets wank about management, other airlines, global warming, no global warming but not each other - we are all on the same team now.
