Looks like there will be significant opportunity in the Pacific for us. (pilots and company)

Sounds like good for us short term, it's the long term that worries me...

Depends on the agreement. We are in place and can take a foot hold. ANA and UAUA(CAL) will try to compete as well.

A code share may lead to some concerns, but with them cutting the whole wide-body fleet there will be a lot of shifting. Wonder if there are Haneda access for us under this agreement as well......

Ok bid gurus, figure this one out for me. Currently a DTW DC9B with no freeze. On the AE, I preferenced CVG M88B with a 70% qualifier (along with just about everything else in the system) above DTW DC9B with a 70% qualifier (my logic being that I don't want to go back to sitting on reserve. 7 people junior to me were awarded CVG M88B (through an AE, not VD or MD). Now, after seeing the projected category list, I sit at roughly 73% on the DC9 in DTW but would sit at roughly 61% on the M88 in CVG.

So... why didn't I get an AE for CVG M88 B? What am I missing, or did they make a mistake?

Apparently the billing for most HRA plans is handled separately from the insurance billing.

Be firm but polite, insist on the way the plan works and you will see results...

Nope, it should be "Reality Check". There are some things that need improvement.

You sure they were awarded it on an AE? If so call Monday.

Send a email to crew resources. There have been several errors on this bid, and lots of people were frozen where they shouldn't have been. Either that or your math is off. Find out for sure.

I wouldn't worry too much about it... I'm sure the award was correct.

I'm not so sure about the short-term, even:

1) ...Meanwhile, ANA has sought approval from the government for taking over some international routes from JAL, while winnowing overlapping service routes...

And there were factions in the government that wanted the entire international portfolio to ANA. I would imagine they would still be active. A little protectionist move favoring the other home team? What's not to like?

2) ...JAL's international routes will be greatly affected by developments in the business environment in the days ahead. For this reason, the bailout body is believed to have concluded that it would be difficult to include any concrete plan for cutting routes by the time JAL is scheduled to sign a formal contract with Delta next month...

Right. They can't make an agreement now, but they have narrowed down the total number of routes they wanted gone to 45. Or maybe they don't want to negotiate who flies what until they are negotiating from a position of strength. It could also simply be that they wnat the new management negotiating.

Speaking of which...

3) They don't want DAL's money. That is to say, they would love DAL's money, but they don't want DAL having a significant stake, ergo some control. The cynic in me says this juicy Japanese morsel is to be consumed by Japanese entities. There is a lot of advantage to get into a distressed asset after the other creditors and shareholders have taken their haircut. This advantage won't be handed over easily.

I would guess we get a deal, and we don't invest a lot. But I think we should have a very reserved view when predicting any winner in any agreement. Not a pessimistic view, but guarded nonetheless.

I'll be happy if it just maintains our level our flying, gives good access to HND, therefore makes the company money, and includes guarantees in sharing future flying. I'd be excstatic if it turned into WB flying growth.
