Just a guess but how we are paid is a corporate policy.

ACL,

Sounds like a familiar system...... I would get your new ATL reps to support such a change. Talking with the MEM rep, the previous guys were against any changes or even polling the pilot group.

Scoop
Scoop, you are referring to inactive duty points only. You get 15 points for breathing, 48 IDTT (drill weekends), 17 AT (2 weeks a year), and 72 AFTP (additional flight training periods).

I'm not sure if the 72 AFTP are considered "inactive duty points." The 17 days AT is considered "active duty points." So, if you were to max out everything above, that would be 135 inactive points and 17 active duty points. If we're capped at 130, that means if you max out everything above you will earn 147 points pay and credit and 5 points pay only. Now, you can add 12 more days of AT, and unlimited (depending on the budget of the command) days of ADT. These are "active duty points" and you can earn a maximum total of 365/366 points per year.

It is definitely possible to get more than 130 points for pay AND retirement credit in the reserves per year. Just trying to clear this up a little. Hope it helps someone out.

A little sidenote: As of Jan08, AT/ADT in excess of 90 days per year will drop your retirement date by the equivalent amount. These do not have to be concurrent orders. Work 180 days on orders in one year, retire at 59 1/2. Work 90 days the next year, retire at 59 1/4. Work 89 days the following year, retire at 59 1/4. 90 days is key.

ACL,
Even IF it is corporate policy, they pay chart SHOULD BE indexed for inflation. If it has NOT changed since 1986, now the top pay out should be close o $5000 at the 12 year mark.

I will ask, but my guess is that they may feel that it would take capital away from something else.

ACL,
This pilot group has HELPED put together the largest and SMOOTHEST merger in history. Management has asked us to help WIN in NYC. We are willing to help with a JAL/NRT/OPEN SKIES DEAL. Its time we start getting things the PILOTS want.... (at no capitol cost). If the pilot group WANTS this, then yours and my reps should know and fight for it. The resolution out of MEM(that was shot down) was the first step. I would have taken part in a wilson poll if called. We never got the chance.

I agree, and I know that two or three of our reps-to-be read this occasionally so I am sure they will see your post.

FWIW, if the resolution passed in MEM it was brought to the MEC meeting where it was assigned to a group/committee. Ask your reps what happened to it. (really what happened: no action, or was it voted down, and why?)
