That's just because they can't find a replacement worthy of the Mighty Diesel 9!!!

They just can't build good airplanes anymore, and what's sad is how much more technology is at the engineers hands.

The DC-9-10 flying out of MSP was some of the best flying EVER.

"Fly heading 330, proceed direct Bismark when able, climb to 350" right after MSP approach switched you to center. Next time you talked with them was when you wanted to start down.

Sure, it didn't have VNAV (other than what was between your ears), but no ATC hassles, no angst from the east/west coast passengers (despite that you were ALWAYS full going to these places), ZERO traffic hassles at your desintation, and getting paid $195/hr in the left seat....oh yea, and you upgraded in 5 years.

THIS is what we lost. I was walking down the C concourse in DTW the other day. I walked a LONG time before I found an DCI plane going somewhere that WASN'T a mainline destination a just few years ago.

To our former negotiators: Thanks for deciding the 76 seaters were ok at DCI.

Nu
I had a light -30 the other night from LGA-DTW. They let us punch off of 31, and we hit FL340 in 16 minutes. I can only imagine what a -10 would do on a cold day from MSP.

Any DAL-N guys know if we are getting paid tonight? I would assume this is our last NWA paycheck, as it would include overs and per-diem from December. I would think our first check on the DAL system would be the first advance check for Feb. Anyone.......anyone........anyone????

You're going to like the 737-700s.
They are little Ferraris compared to the 800s.
Lots of power (nearly every take-off is a double derate) and they stop on a dime.

Took one into Key West the other day for the first time. The green pages make it sound scary.
Max Autobrakes Mandatory. Cross-wind limits. Go-around points on the runway, etc. etc.
We had that little hot rod at a dead stop by mid-field.
4800' of runway is twice as much as you really need.

Now if they could just do something about the recirc fan that sounds like a hurricane.
