That would be funny if it weren't true! DALPA will reassure us with the fact that we've gotten pay raises and that the number of RJ's flying is actually going down. Never mind the percentages and or ASM's on DCI.

What's up with Armando's SCOPE report card? I was hoping that would help show the metrics of exactly what we're talking about ASM's DCI %'s etc.

If the 44 LEC has dragged their feet on this maybe the new blood will help this along.

Clamper and Oranguman,

Carpet, extra tie-down AND Telex 750s!! I wonder when all of that will be removed. My guess is that the memo about removing the headsets comes at the last possible moment.

You know, if we had a real Union, instead of a Association of self-interest motivated MECs, we'd have a National Seniority List and all mergers would be strictly DoH.

I know as a career airline pilot you posted this comment to get a rise out of people since there is no way you would not have read and understand the RLA. Just in case you have not bothered to read the document that runs your life you might take a glance. What you want is illegal under the RLA. National unions are not permitted in the transportation industry. That is why ALPA is structured as a association and each airlines MEC maintains autonomy.

The answer is in Section 1 of the PWA. Once a number is established it doesn't have to be reduced unless they furlough Delta pilots.

No, they can't reduce our flying to zero unless they don't furlough and continue to pay us. That would be a nice paid vacation... Your comment about RJ's remaining constant is bogus as well. Just prior to the merger the combined NWA Airlink/DCI fleet was over 800 aircraft. It is at 680 now, with 50 more aircraft to be reduced this year. Even with the DC-9's leaving the fleet, the Connections are parking at over 3 times the rate. DCI block hours are shrinking in comparison to mainline as well.

Did you not get your morning glimpse of Kiffin's wife? (all things UT to you)

Who has any career expectations after 9-11. UAL Pilots had career expectations – how are they working out? Pan Am guys had career expectations also. TWA….. well you get the point. Career expectations do not seem like a reliable indicator of an actual airline career. The only realistic career expectation is that this career is a crapshoot.

If we do merge with Alaska we should strive or a fair SLI with minimal use of fences. I imagine there would be some fences, but by crafting a SLI based on category, the merger fence use could be minimized.

Scoop

Do you think Alaska pilots should feel they have a "right" to fly wide bodys in merger?

And what does 911 have anything to do with a merger?

Go and ask a southwest pilot if he ever expects to fly a wide body. How about airtran, jetblue.... well you get the point.

OchoGnewto,

It will be easier and cheaper to remove the Telex 750's from the NW jets than to replace the half-clamp DC's. So much for taking the best of each airline.

Having worn my own headset (earmold type using the hand mike) since the 3 holer days I am shocked how many still use the ships set. Gave the ships set a try on my 1st 75 trip. I quickly bought my current headset w/boom mike after getting on a 757 in the summer and the foam ear pads were wet with sweat from the previous fo. Next stop in msp, stop over store for me.
