There are some rumblings of up to 400 pilots for 09. Not sure if this is DAL or DAL and NWA, but it really does not matter. That is good for everyone.

I'm still partial to the old paint scheme. IMO, the best looking airplane in that paint scheme is the 757.

Hiring 400 pilots for '09? As much as I'd love to see that, I find that hard to believe. R.A. just came out today in an article stating, "...moving into an unprecedented time in all of our lives in terms of the financial crisis around the world, and we just don't know what it's going to do to our demand." I just hope they don't pull out the "Force Majeur" to cut the pilot workforce. Maybe I'm just being too negative!

Are rumblings better or worse than rumors, as far as credibility?

Hey, with the impending tax cuts/rebates/welfare check (and/or unemployment check!), I'd be stupid not to buy a big 'ole television set. Plus, thanks to the impending demise of over-the-air analog signals, I pretty much had no choice in the matter.

The "guber-ment" made me buy that them thar' 62 inch HDTV, I tells ya!

We should have at least one aircraft from each type in the old white Delta paint scheme. It was a good looking paint scheme.

30 DC9s being brought out of storage will be where the added hiring is needed. The fleet engineers are even talking about it over here. Delta Shuttle in New York. They want slot reductions in New York so the DC9s will be brought in to replace the RJ's and the maddogs. The Maddogs will likely be moved to cover some of the stronger DC9 routes. Either way its good news for all.
