Question.... When will the system go from AE mode to VD or MD mode?

For example,

I bid atlm88b at 85% as my last AE choice (currently ATLM88b at around 75%).

VD'd to MSP on the m88B as a lineholder

MD'd all around (except NYC!)

I just don't want to be stuck on the 88 as a reserve guy in ATL, but I want the company to pay for my move from ATL. Will this work? Clear as mud, eh?

AE and VD are processed simultaneously. MD is separate. I wish I had the exact reference, but I don't have the consolidated AE message on this computer. It's worth reading sometime in the next 10 hours.

New, did you read this in Upfront for Fall 2009 about the elongated Douglas:

MD-88S FOR THE FUTURE?
You betcha! The average age of Delta's MD-88 fleet is 19.1 years - the oldest being 22.4 years and the youngest 15.7 years. By average, that places the MD-88 as the oldest in the Delta South fleet. You may think the Mad Dog is getting old, but in reality it's just now reaching "middle age".

According to Boeing, there were 1,192 MD-80s delivered. Of those delivered, 706 are currently flying. Boeing also states "70% the MD-80 fleet (700 airplanes) have less than 35,000 cycles". Not convinced that it's a young pup yet? What if I told you the life of the fuselage is expected to be 110,000 flight cycles and 150,000 flight hours. That's right - Boeing refers to this life expectancy as the Limit of Validity. That means that most MD-80s could have 20 - 30 years of service life remaining.

Of course Delta will be faced with making the determination on where to draw the line. Economic viability will depend on fuel cost, navigation system limitations, and inevitable mandates (Required Navigational Performance, Noise Regulations, Aging Airplane Safety, etc.) For now it appears that the MD-88 has a solid spot in Delta's long-term fleet plan. And why wouldn't it; the Mad Dog is only 19 years young.

That doesn't mean you should be so overcome with gratitude as to accept anything, but the "torches and pitchforks" stuff seems a little... over the top. And a little tired, as well.

If you want to make things better, and you want to run for office, good for you. We don't need idle talk in representatives: we need effectiveness, intelligence, imagination, and a dose of pragmatism. Start by displaying some. Don't start with incoherent nonsense, and embarassing yourself with populist rethoric.

We don't have practice AE's because... we don't. Over 87% of you voted for a contract without it.

We do have out of base WS. It's in the contract that way.

I don't like the 24-hr international shortcall either. For better or for worse, it's in the contract that way. I'm all for improving it, but we have no mechanism for that just yet, and the RLA doesn't recognize torches and pitchforks.

There, now my rant's over.
Look dude....I don't know who didn't get a little something something this holiday season...but enough with your response.

I'm a 3rd year DAL F/O...and I'm happy to take a bit of a hit in QOL for the better of all. I think we are headed in the correct direction but YOU....and your ilk....seem to think its better to tear down those who point out shortcomings in fellow aviators...rather than fixing our own contract or the manner in which we approach it.

HOWEVER, you no talent ass-clown.....

a few things to clear up.

No more drunk in my posting than your mom on any given weekend.

Now, that being out of the way...

This IS a place for idle chatter and BS. If you thought this was the UN General Assembly...well...............it is.....it all means nothing in the long run.

to summarize for you, our contract has things in it (as shocking as it is) that the current iCrew system cannot accommodate (ie: out of base p/u's on the swap board...they are legal, but are not allowed because of an iCrew glitch). AND according to crew scheduling the same is the case for 48hr p/u's from lineholders in base on w/s's.

Now, if I have to deal with BS from you on a daily basis as a union leader...I rather just ***** from the cheap seats.

However, if you want real change.... a view of the pilot group as the life-blood and economic engine for our airline; and not a fixed cost, depreciable ( i know, not a real word) unit of labor...vote for my future leadership.

Otherwise I'm going to sit on my thumb, fly my Delta jet safely...and wonder why I'm not buying some dude I'm flying with on my layover a beer....

And then, suddenly I realize.....that you are one of those dudes that have nothing but stones to cast...and small cajones to contribute to the fight that is the protection of our profession.

RANT...most assuredly....is STILL ON!!!

You're right. I forgot to include that. You are placed in a bucket based on days of availability (anything 4 days and above is in the same bucket). They then assign trips to the lowest RAW score from the bucket based on the trip length. If there are no reserves in the bucket for that trip length, they'll go to the next highest.

And SinkR8...

if you can't take all that with an ENTIRE salt lick...you are in the wrong profession.

no personal offense intended...i'll buy you a beer over New Years in Frankfurt if you are there. Or any other time we have the pleasure of flying many many people....safely.... across an ocean or across this wonderful country of ours.

I don't post on here....unless I have something to say that I mean.

Indeed. However...the incivility was not mine alone, you must admit.

All is good in love and meaningless banter. And APC.

Let us not forget...one big as# team my friends. The reason for my original and follow up posts.

Sinkr8's mom aside. Just funny when you were 12...still funny.

Again....let us ALL remember what this is.

Its NOT a union meeting. Its a rantfest and an exchange of ideas. To call someone out for being angry about something is callow at best.

Let us be supportive of our brutha's bitc*ing...and not run counter to making our lot in life better as a group.
