Ralphie. You may get reinstatement rights, but there are going to be 220 less positions in ATL, so even if you hold it on a reinstatement you will lose it with MD's coming in on top of you.

Thanks for the reply ACL. If that's so, I don't understand the "who was in such category on the award date of his MD" part of the contract noted above. Seems they're saying since I wan't in that category on the award date of the MD I'd be exempt, but maybe it just means that the reinstatements would be processed first and then the displacements? Who knows, I'm a moron when it comes to contract stuff.

Default MD Seniority over AE Seniority

Fellas,
Will the MD'd MD90 SLC folks have first shot at the SLC 320?

Better question:
Will a 12,000 seniority dude who is displaced off the SLC MD90 be awarded the SLC 320 before a 11,000 seniority dude who is not getting MD'd?

Thanks

I'm guessing not because it's a new category, & so it has to be open to everyone. I've been wrong before though.

To continue boring you all with this reinstatement stuff, I'm curious about this part of 22/F/12...

"A pilot who holds an MD will, without regard to the standing bids of senior pilots, be reinstated to the category from which he was displaced if..." and then it goes on to talk about the 180 days requirement, a request for reinstatement, and senior pilots also awarded an MD from such category not taking all of the vacancies first.

Since AEs, VDs, and MDs are standing bids, it seems to imply that none of them could supercede a reinstatement.

???

I would guess "standing bids" refers to an AE. I can't imagine a senior pilot not being able to displace into a lower category, just because the last spot was made available to a reinstatement.

Another way to look at it: standing bid means any bid, the reinstatement is given first, then the junior guy is displaced again. Either way: the reinstatement only trumps an AE.

That's the way I understand it. You may be reinstated to your previous category, but once they run the MD's you could get bumped right back out. Either way, you'd never know because the AE, VD, and MD will all be run before any results are posted.

It doesn't make any sense to give someone a reinstatement when a more senior pilot is to be MD'd and may take that slot.

That would be wet dreams. It's an AE, and that means it's open season for y'all who wants to come in. Last I checked, there were about 100 guys that put in AE for this new category. I am starting to memorize all the VOR freqs now

Good luck to you.
