I think he was referring to abusers of sick leave when he said "honest." Apparently, people at this airline get sick more often than at other businesses and are costing him/her money.

As a commuter, I probably shouldn't even be commenting on the situation. You see, I am costing him money also, and the shame is almost unbearable. I have to go now and tell my family I've decided to move them to New York to live in a slum we can afford, so I won't have to commute any longer and he can get his rightful dollars.

First, his profile says he's a 744FO. Second, there are 63 surplus 744FOs on the AE. Third, I suspect there are 320 and DC9 captains who will likely displace to 744FO.

Not exactly....if I lose LA we're going north where it's a little more reasonable, less expensive.

Default Hot chicks on ice picture...

Hey quick favor,

Can someone post the picture of the 5 hot chicks on ice? Someone told me to look out for that smokin' hot picture and I can't find it...

I doubt they are Delta stews (old bags)...

Thanks

Just like an overly generous commuting policy, or overly generous sick leave that encourages abuse, or overly generous LTD benefits that went on forever (in the old days)! All of that stuff costs non-commuting honest pilots a lot of money in the long run.

If you didn't get the word, today is "it's all about me Saturday".
exactly what office do you work in on the 4th floor

And not one Atlanta local will be forced to commute. There are already plenty of commuters based in Atlanta who can keep chasing the money if they want to. Life is full of choices. If you don't want to uproot your family, fine, bid an airplane in Atlanta you can hold. If you are truly too junior to hold anything in Atlanta, then commuting may be a necessary evil, but very few pilots will fall into that category. Very few. I'm willing to cut them some slack and even give a reasonable commuting policy but as for the rest -- forget it. Don't make ME have to pay so others can live in East Bumble and commute to wherever.
Wow. What a selfish post. Has it ever occured to you that some people commute for the mental health of their family? Has it ever occured to you the I SACRAFICE driving to work so my wife can be around her family? So my daughter can grow up around her Grandparents and Cousins, Aunts and Uncles?

Has it ever occured to you that some are such 'do-gooders' as yourself and move to a base only to be displaced to another because they can't hold said base any longer? And when they've lost 35% or more on the value of their house, who is going to make up for that so they don't foreclose and can move to another base and be an "honest pilot"?

Don't act as if your some martyr, sacraficing things so that others can commute. PUH-LEAZE! Get over yourself. Perhaps it's you who need to grow up sir.

Ugh, research this thread the past 48 hours. Several commuters have stated outright that instituting the former NWA commuting policy would reduce sick leave usage. That tells me commuters call in sick when they can't get to work, in spite of the fact that they are not sick. YES, in my book, that's dishonest! And YES, we ALL know that happens. And to justify it because your based closed? GMAB! DFW closed years ago. Commute for a while until you can move your family, or quit and apply at AMR. If you want a six figure salary, occasionally you have to do things you don't want to do. Geeez.

Question for all: what do you think happens when a company moves its headquarters? Answer: you move or quit.

Question: what happened when you were in the military and you got transferred?
Answer: you moved or quit or got court martialed.

Question: How many rampers commute? How many corporate types commute? How many mechanics commute?
Answer: almost none.

Why do pilots view it as a birthright never to have to be inconvenienced?
