Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?

Big,
It will affect you in the NYC er category if that is where the er time is moved from to cover opening an er base in, say, SEA. Any time a new base and category are opened, they are up for bid by any one who can hold them. My feeling is that a SEA 7er base will go VERY senior in both seats.
If the time is removed from NYC and there is a displacement out of nyc, you need to make sure your mandatory displacement bid is up to date in DBMS. There are 2 types of displacements, mandatory and voluntary. Mandatory displacements are awarded in inverse seniority order. Voluntary displacements are done in seniority order. A voluntary displacement is when a senior pilot displaces into another category he wants to go to initially using the seniority of the junior pilot who would have been displaced. Once he is awarded the voluntary displacement, he is able to exercise his real seniority.
If you feel like you are going to get a mandatory displacement, put in a bid that you would like to hold even if you don't think you can hold it but always end the bid with something you know you can hold 'cause that is problably what you will get, but you just never know so shoot for the moon and hope for the best but CYA!!!
Good Luck to us all!!!

I'm not trying to be a smart ass here, but isn't it safe to say that is how you should play your cards no matter what kind of bid it is. You bid for what you want and get what you bid.

Little too early for that. But yes, the ER in ATL and NYC would be doing the SEA, DTW, and MSP stuff.
Lots of stuff is still not "totally" finalized, so just wait until you see a bid for it. Fact is that crew resources is looking for this to be the last bid before SOC. Now sure if that will hold up, but those are the plans as of yesterday.

So, DTW and SEA will be in the next AE? Or will we wait until SOC?

Oh wow, you mean the new hires who felt they were entitled to widebody Intl. flying might lose it and this will be Deltas fault. Very interesting.

Probably the same way that if Delta establishes a 747 base in ATL, all the green book guys can bid it and displace all the red book guys junior to them on the airplane now.

As a Delta new-hire who went straight to a wide body, I don't feel entitled to anything. The opportunity was there and I took it. I got lucky, that's all, just as I got lucky to be hired in this last short hiring window.
If Delta called me tomorrow and said they were bumping me off the ER into the Mad Dog or the DC-9, I'll happily say, "Sure, book me a room at the Comfort Inn (or the MSP equivalent)." Heck, I'd love to plumb the whale if it wasn't based in ANC.
There may be one or two out there who feel entitled, but no new hire on the ER that I know expresses that sentiment. We all recognize that we got hired here at a very opportune time and we are all extremely grateful for it.

We do not feel that we are entitled to intl widebody flying. It was the opportunity that was presented to us due to many factors outside OUR control. Holding this line is the reason I applied to DAL only and no other passenger airline. A few times in our lives we are presented with true life changing opportunities and we were able to actaully take advantage of this one. I would not enjoy losing it. I guess it would be just an early "welcome to the ever changing airline business so sit down, shut-up, and take what you get" moment.
But others are right that this cannot take place for over a year after the DCC as far as displacements until after the certificates are merged and folks are trained up.
