Dude, weren't there like 60 or so surpluses in the right seat of the 744???

I count that as getting kicked off.

There are 63 displacements on the 744B in DTW.

Of course everyone on here is bickering about North South me me me mode, naturally.

This Open Skies thing is HUGE for Delta. Or rather could be a huge problem, but most are only concerned with the AE.

Im a bit surprised by the lack of interest on this?

I don't think I would call 63 of 253 744 FO displacements "minimal"...

I'm guessing it's becuase of the surplus of 744 FO's in DTW.

I'm hoping it'll all shake out in a good way for us, but just looking at the press release it looks like we may come out the worst.

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the company came to us to negotiate improvements to the crappy contract we were working under, just a few summers ago when things aaah weren't working out for them. After that, 50% pay for deadheads? Gone. Flying 95+ hours a month. Gone.

Maybe we can get some things "gone," too. (without giving anything up)

Free Bird,

I think it is a matter of prioritization. We're trying to figure out the recall items for the immediate "forced displacement, divert to other than planned destination" before we deal with the "volcanic ash from international eruption" threat that's on the horizon.

Along those lines, now that we've all said "OH CRAP!" and Canceled the warning, can we exchange information useful for dealing with this checklist? There are a lot of us that have never done this before, who planned our lives to avoid it, but now we have to deal with it.

Since it looks like future bids will make any quick moves look long term stupid, what about intel on commuting to the junior bases:

(1) Are there quick convenient hotels with transport near DTW / MSP / NYC / MEM ?
(2) Approximate cost ?
(3) Current and Former Commuters, can you tell us your strategies? Go in the day before? How much of a pad do you give yourself going from one base to another? Do you call and reserve the JS the second you can & when is that?
(4) What's DC9 / MD88 / A320 training like?

On FOM news, Call in Honest lives on. FOM Chapter 11 section 5. Looks like something from old NW makes the grade with delta.

The commuter chokepoints are going to shift after this bid. Atlanta is going to become a lot harder to get in and out of because the number of commuters is going to increase dramatically after all the displacements out of Atlanta.
Reference DFW. ATL will be the new commuting nightmare.
