After reading the email, I am curious about the changes, and will remain optimistic. I always thought the brief prior to the sim is/was way overkill. I think that I have seldomly used the entire 4 hours in the sim either. The more time I can be home the merrier. Hopefully the new content on the computer can make up for what is being “lost” by being there in person, and ALPA can achieve some new at home learning pay improvements as well.

No pay for E periods is a real bummer. I prefer them from the west coast. Now you work late and yay done by 1am and no pay. Big win for us /sarcasm
Briefs were never meant to be two students listening to a teacher. Remember flight instructing students that didn't come prepared? There is too much material to learn it all in a brief. I think this will make studying easier and give us more time to discuss the relevant parts of the sim lesson. I also don't think he was lying about throughput, he has always been a straight shooter. Time will tell.

I think during the two days of CQ they had the whole TEM umbrella slides AT LEAST 3 times in the pre/post brief stuff. Cutting that down would probably save 20 minutes per session right off the top...

What's interesting is the current periods end at 59. The new A starts at 0500 and the E ends at 0100. Contract says between 0100 and 0500 triggers premium pay. Are they interpreting that as 0101 and 0459?

If you’re done by 01:00:00, you aren’t working between 01:00:00 and 04:59:00.
