Because 23.A.51 defines "rotation" as "a duty period, or series of duty periods, that is identified by number and scheduled to begin and end at a pilot’s base, and all the flight segments contained therein."

Default CRAF

It appears the CRAF has been activated to aid in the evacuation of US troops and Afghan refugees. Delta is reportedly supplying 3 aircraft - 2 330s and 1 350, I think.

Anyone have better info on the aircraft we've committed and the duration of the activation?

you can see the rotations on MiCrew if you select base as MAC, kinda what you would expect as far as locations ( I won’t post them here)
unsure of how long, probably a few weeks, only a handful of trips in there so far.

I was today years old when I learned about the MAC base feature. I had been sarching through the different bases looking for M rotations.

I would be surprised if this is a CRAF activation as it has a lot of implications for Delta outside of normal scheduling and other practices. I suspect they are simply mil charter flights.

We started charters a few days ago on behalf of the airlift. 2 330s and a 350. Non CRAF at the time. From what I understand, we were the only passenger airline that voluntarily picked up the charters. A few other major carriers weren’t going to do it. CRAF is being used to compel them into service. We were asked for additional planes as well. We can handle giving up 3 planes without much schedule implications (unless there’s an irop or maintenance issues). If we push much more in to service, we’ll have to cancel flights.

Today was the first time I’ve seen trips under it. I knew it was there just was not sure why until today.

Normally in a CRAF activation crews are provided with the aircraft. The aircraft are specific tail numbers the government controls. Normal mil charters we pick any available airframe and type to meet the lift requested. Crews are provided gov id’s ect. Trips are not scheduled within our normal Icrew system. Since this is limited to 3 aircraft perhaps they will try and over the flying through normal processes. Normally however with CRAF Delta supplies the crews and airframes and the government writes the schedules. In addition CRAF crews are not covered by our contractual work rules. They fly under FAA rules. CRAF crews are not supposed to be subject to a military reserve obligation however the last time It was not enforced.
