I think Guam is a fall back position in case doing business in Japan becomes too one sided to be viable. Is that what you think, Sailing, ACL?
In any event we might see 737's in Asia anyway since they do 85% of what a 757 does for about 70% of the cost. The difference is marginal, but where the 757's awesomeness is not required the 737's pretty good works. The 737 can be backfilled by the MD90's cheaptocrity and the MD88 remains as craptastic as ever until someone invents a imported baby 757 made out of Tupperware & powered by a Flux Capacitor.
Meanwhile United's managers order new jets they can't pay for so the AirBus and Boeing marketing folks keep taking them and their wives to fancy dinners for free.
Guess 20,000 posts is going to be a tomorrow thing. Maybe we should save that spot to begin all the shouting about the first combined Advanced Entitlement. That way we'll have a handy marker to return to.

What I heard was that GUM was an emerging opportunity since air micronesia (CAL) was in pullback mode and DAL saw that as an opportunity to fill the void. Additionally, the GUM operation would dovetail well with asia hub operations. The GUM as fallback (to NRT) option was something I have only seen in this thread.
FWIW, it doesn't mean I heard correctly, but what I have posted makes more sense to me.

Well I just got a very sickening phone call about a possible on this AE and I am trying to find those facts out.
The surprise will be just that. Not worth the time of telling anyone, because if they decide not to do it, I do not want to be the reason that ppl are watering all over their shoes.

I've heard the same and just to add, the other NRT rumor is that we need to fill freighter slots, ergo 737s for really small markets that Cal is pulling back from.

I don't agree with the post in reference, but you are completely wrong. I suggest you review the Landrum Griffith Act as it pertains to the free speech rights of union members - bottom line is you can say anything you want about a union official free from fear of recrimination. I highly suggest you call ALPA National Legal and get their interpretations on the topic. It has been tested in recent years and ALPA policy manual undated to reflect those interpretations.
That would not prevent a individual from pursuing civil litigation on their own time, but it will not be paid for by the association. I also find your blatant fear mongering almost as low as the original post. Suing an individual on your own dime and seeing it through to conclusion takes deep pockets and a lot of perseverance and may or may not be successful, in which case you get to pay the legal fees, and might be in turn counter-sued.

The law says, slander is any intentional false communication, either written or spoken, that harms a person's reputation; decreases the respect, regard, or confidence in which a person is held; or induces disparaging, hostile, or disagreeable opinions or feelings against a person. Libel is the written or broadcasted version of slander.
Of interesting note, there were some news articles published over the summer about bloggers who were being sued and there's even blog insurance ... not making this up ... in order to protect yourself.
