Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
20,000 Posts on this thread!
So I say we start a contest to whoever makes the 20,000th post on this thread wins a prize. What say You?
I'll bet a small pomeranian dog that ACL makes it.
20,000 posts - 19,715 posts = 285 posts.
285 posts x every 30 seconds = in roughly 2 1/2 hours I will make the 20,000 post. It will take some work and lots of gibberish but usually I work hard to make posts that turn out to be nothing but gibberish so I think I can do it.
-OR-
ACL can tell us the new rumor and I bet you we can hit 3,000 pages and 20,000 posts by morning.

The sad thing is (to me anyway) we are on page 1972 and it sounds like most of you were not even a gleem in your daddy's eye then!!!

I think one guy (Delta Pilot) on another thread said he was born in 1983. His daddy might not have even been in high school in 1972!
Also, if I put in for a GS and am willing to accept a trip less than 12 hours while on long call, is the trip a proffer or am I bound to take it?
Reason I ask is that most times during the day I could make checkin much less than 12 hours, but for a few hours in the evening, I'd need the full 12 to make it. I thought about limiting the hours they could call me, and the time to report via the preference qualifiers, but this could unnecessarily limit a GS if it came up mid-morning.
Anyone have any firsthand experience with this?

I found it, if you login to DALPA and in the search box put CA Bulletin 09-12 it'll come up. Click on the disk and it'll open the 1100 page PDF which includes the bulletins and the whole contract and some other documents. So its nice because if the bulletin says "Refer to Section 23:Q" it'll take you to the actual contract. Just don't hit print at home or in the crewroom.
Its a good document.
As to proffers for reserve pilots (cut and pasted from that CA 09-12 & Contract):
A reserve pilot who is proffered/awarded a yellow slip for a rotation with a report that is:
a. 12 hours or less from first attempted contact may decline such award (this is a proffer).
b. more than 12 hours from first attempted contact is obligated to fly the rotation (this is not a proffer).
b. more than 12 hours from first attempted contact is obligated to fly the rotation (this is not a proffer).
Inverse assignment of a long call reserve pilot within 12 hours of report will be by proffer.
Today, when submitting a yellow slip to lower your RAW score by 15 points, you are doing so on a universal basis, not simply for specific rotations or dates. At the same time, you are also indicating that you wish to accept a trip with less than 12 hours’ notice to report (this is a proffer)
and that you wish to fly above the ALV. Your reserve preference qualifiers are only considered if your RAW value is such that you will be assigned flying, and then only if there is more than one trip available to you.
Section 23 O 16: Long call reserve pilots whose rotation would report within 12 hours of initial attempt to contact (by proffer, in category, in inverse seniority order)
23 O 18: Long call reserve pilots whose rotation would report within 12 hours of initial attempt to contact and whose X-day(s) would be interrupted (by proffer, in category, in inverse seniority order)
Section 23 O 16: Long call reserve pilots whose rotation would report within 12 hours of initial attempt to contact (by proffer, in category, in inverse seniority order)

There is someone lurking on this thread born in 83... oh wait... 81? Couldn't have been 83 for this particular Conquistaqdor of the Seniority List. If I do the math in my head right.
Its not a give up attitude. NW did not have 1 for 3.5. Therefore they can build 5 day domestic trips without lots of credit or bumping up against FAR Limits. Personally I don't want 5 day trips so hope nothing changes but you wont see them often with 1 for 3.5 in the contract. Do the math on a 5 day reporting at 11 am on day 1 and getting back at 7 pm day 5 and it will come clear to you what the companies issues would be.
We did have that rig prebankruptcy. The trips we're talking about would not leave at 11am, they would leave at 1500 to 1700 so one can commute in with backups. Also, they release a lot earlier than 7pm so once again you can commute home.
I guess all we are saying is look at some north patters/rotations/pairings or what ever we call them today and see what we are talking about. Delta does NOT have the perfect answer to everything.
Rant over.........
