Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
I agree with you but as a guy who lives in base this makes me wonder. If I were to fill up and then be given an trip, could I grieve that trip as an inverse assignment and be given single pay above guarantee and PB days? I haven't had the opportunity to fly a GS since the xmas holiday time frame, might this be a back door to a little premium flying?

Are you saying we have reserve pilots who don’t know when they are full and they fly planes? We should not have pilots misread their schedules and miss trips either. Mistakes happen on both sides. My point was I highly doubt it was intentional as CS has nothing to gain.
I'm sure if guys started blowing off legally assigned shortcalls (becuz they thought they were full) the company may have an issue with that...

I hope not, but ALPA's fly now grieve later position doesn't help either. Some will be in position for assigned short calls even though it was not in compliance with the PWA. There should be a penalty for this.

Trip coverage is automated to a certain extent. I don’t think he would even show up on the coverage report the scheduler works from.
If I'm full, I'm not required to check my schedule. So would the first call from scheduling be when I haven't acknowledged a SC or for a trip? For their sake I hope it's the former...on the bright side someone may get a GS if they try to call for a trip. Of course that's if I even show up on the list for a trip.
SF post above brings up a good point. Who goes on SC is totally automated and seems to be hands of for the scheduler. A buddy got a later short call than someone junior when he has specifically YS'd an earlier SC. He called and they switched it. Keep an eye and and don't hesitate to call if something doesn't seem right.

So I've got an SC assignment followed by an XX day. I haven't used my APD and my hire month is October so it resets in 5 days anyway. Could I use my APD over the XX day to make it a hard no fly day thus getting done with SC at noon? That XX day is worthless for most GS due to 30/168 so there's very little opportunity cost to using it. Not even sure icrew would let me put an APD over an existing XX day.
