Do Delta pilots ever volunteer to sit in the FA jumpseat to get an offline pilot home?
I feel like I do that a lot at 9E but every time I’m waiting next to the gate for a Delta flight in uniform on a full flight and praying people don’t show up I see a Delta pilot who listed online blow by and not even make eye contact.
I know it’s not ideal but a flight from NYC to Bos isn’t really that long to help a commutter out.

As far as the eye contact thing, they may be tired and not even see you. Engage and you may be surprised with the results.
I had a regional friend tell me about our supposed reputation for not making eye contact walking through the halls. I'm a friendly guy, and I always say hi or smile and wave and never gave it a second thought.... so I paid attention my next trip as to my contact with other pilots. I was 0 for 6 with any regional guys responding to my smile and nod or even wave at them. Goes both ways....

I always ask and say that I'm willing to sit in the FA jumpseat if it gets someone else on.
