Keep in mind that your IOE which should be in Oct will be paid at the rate of the equipment you fly it on.

Reserve question
YSed a trip. Didn't get it. Went to a senior guy who didn't want it. We are in same days available group, but I'm in a lower bucket because I've flown more. Scheduling insists they have to exhaust all the bucket 1 guys before my YS gets looked at.
Looking at PWA has me crosseyed. Are they correct?

23. N. or O. depending on the time frame only discusses RUO which is reserve usage order. Of which, I still have been unable to obtain a written copy. There seems to be a lot of company discretion.
“Reserve utilization order” (RUO) means an order of assigning open time to reserve
pilots, within days-of-availability groupings, that is based upon a comparison of their
RAW value groupings.
SRH page 64 is really the only help.

Anyway to verify who YS on a specific day?
I YS for being first on short call. Got a 4 day trip instead. Is there a way to find out if someone senior to me YS for SC ahead of me? I like to trust but verify. Or do I just have stick with the trust part?
They cover trips before assigning SC so if you were the first in line for the 4-day you get it regardless of what you requested as far as SC goes.

Okay, thanks. Didn't know that. Kind of pointless to have the option to YS for SC...
Hello Section 6 negotiations.
Reserve rules are generally not a high priority when pay and other QOL issues are well below industry standard, or below what the pilot group considers important.
With almost half of our seniority list retiring in the next decade, and those of us not retiring having unbelievable opportunities to move seat/equipment, we all may have the joy(sarcasm dripping) of experiencing reserve.
If you foresee moving to another seat/AC/domicile and having a potential stint of reserve, communicate to your reps not only what you see wrong with our current system, but what you'd like to see changed. The old 'junior stuff' (like reserve rules) may affect more and more of us as we all get the opportunity to upgrade and/or change equipment. Our reps aren't psychic; if you have an idea how to fix our current system, let them know.
These reserve rules may be the reason people aren't upgrading or moving domiciles until they can hold a line.
