Green slips seem like easy money. My advice to new guys is to never cancel plans with your family to fly a green slip. This job is hard enough on family as is. Family needs to come first on off-days. I have heard pilots talking about skipping trick-or-treating with their little kids because that experience isn't worth the $8,000 the green slip pays. That's a terrible mindset to get into. Another one I've heard is the $6,000 beer that the pilot just drank making them unable to accept a GS with an immediate report time.

By that logic we should all take a 50% pay cut.
It'll be awesome!
Our profit sharing check would be HUGE!

Oh. Wait. Maybe not.

[QUOTE=sailingfun;2386571]To a extent. There is a crossover point where it's better to add pilots. There are issues beyond straight cost. The company has increased staffing in some categories as a result.[/QUOTE

Any you can be sure the company knows those costs down to a nickel.

Not only would I accept an $8,000 GS instead of trick of treating with my kids, my wife would be the first one packing my bags.

Now Xmas, Graduation, Birthdays etc might be a different story

I did an $8000 GS once that had me working July 4th. That GS paid for a nice one week family vacay at Caneel Bay Resort on St. John in August of that year. So, I had an even more quality time experience with my family windsurfing, snorkeling, and kayaking. My girls still talk about that trip.

Sort of....

You still have to pay via CC to activate the listing and, if it all goes south, you can get a refund BUT you burn that pass when the refund is issued.

Your seniority is a tool.

The contract is a tool.

Learn to use your tools wisely and you will be a craftsman.

Don't worry about how others may or may not employ their tools.

I'm currently building the most beautiful summer I have ever had as a pilot at Delta. Pay and time off is a work of art. I wish I could show my paycheck stub and schedule in a gallery. Ok, that's enough bragging for now. You CAN make it happen, learn to use your tools.
