The Default bid works just like the Current Bid template. The only difference is it'll retain the full bid month to month and will submit the bid each month on your behalf. If you have Prefer off day bids with dates from previous months, PBS will skip those and attempt to build you a schedule based on everything else. Outside of that, if you change the Default bid and click submit just like you would for the Current bid, it acts the same. Think of the Default bid as a Current bid "with benefits."

Don't know of any stand-alone howgozit app but the latest company and ALPA comms regarding the upcoming HTML flight plans have examples exactly like JB's (ALPA IT guru) website. I use that all the time and it's awesome.

Unfortunately, he (JB) has put so many tools into the HTML flight plan, my mental math has all but disappeared and my ability to find stuff quickly on the paperwork is rapidly going too.

Default June Bid Package Blows

So the ATL M88 bid package for June is terrible. 88% of the trips are 4 days long!! 0% for 1 & 2 day trips.

Where is the MOAB? I need a new plane with better options. Bye-bye seniority!!

Hey welcome to the 717 world the past two years! There have been numerous months when we had more 5-day trips than 1, 2, and 3 days...combined. The RCC is well aware of a lot of blistering FCRs from me and others.

The 717 trip mix (ATL at least) is fairly good for June, but as I read the Crew Resources newsletter, that was just the luck of the optimizer calculations. M88 looks like the 717 has numerous times that past couple of years.

Your one ace in the hole? If you have vacation and live local, bid reserve. The pure domestic categories have a "min on call day" rule of 3 for building reserve lines. That means that if you have a week of vacation or more, you can build a reserve line where you are never on call more than 3 days at a stretch--nice to be able to do that when 90+% of the trips are 4-day or longer. (This is not possible if you don't have any vacation, mil leave, etc, due to the required number of reserve days in a full month).

I realize that may or may not be feasible, but I wanted to bring that up.

Exactly right.
I would add this. Max your 401k, put a couple thousand each year into the 529 and buy a bigger boat. Have fun with your money you earned it. They will have plenty of time to pay for their own College. Just my two cents

I have seen one. The other FO on my last trip had it. Runs the times among other features. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to get ahold of it. My best guess is that it may be done by the A330 study guide guy, but I don't even know who he is either. Hope that helps at all...

I think johnfbell.com is the website that creates this howgozit.

Can someone summarize the difference between a green slip and inverse assignment? Much appreciated.

If you work for us and have a copy of the PWA, look at Sections 23.Q, 23.R, 23.U.1, and 23.U.3. I think there are too many scenarios to really lay it all out here.
