We used to have exactly that however to go ahead of OOBWS the in base reserve had to yellow high the trip. It was opt in rather then opt out. The company did not like it because unless a category was understaffed they ended up paying for the WS when the reserve was free. Going back to that system was in my contract survey.

It sounds like you're saying to GS and get double pay on top of the pay protection, basically amounting to triple pay. No wonder the guys above me try to fly with check airmen all the time!
I know junior guys on the narrowbody categories that get trips awarded with LCA every month..Mainly because many of the LCA are junior and they do terrible trips over the weekends. A lot of the senior FO's don't risk bidding a bad trip with a LCA because it is so hard to swap(if training is not put on that trip) now with all the reserve avail days capped(and pilots blocked to 90 hours on PBS award). Plus a large number of LCA swap trips after initial award, and when they do this junior pilots get the reward of having that trip bought. Losing LCA trip buys would be a big concession for all FO's.

Its not only a big concession to all FOs, its also a concession to jr NB captains since most of them are jr to the guys who are sitting in the right seat bidding with LCAs. Imagine how many guys will go from right seat to left if LCA bidding goes away.

There are all kinds of 2nd and 3rd order effects which we probably haven't even thought about. In my case, I've been rolling thunder since April. Its has given me excellent compensation and very good control over my schedule. If senior FOs weren't able to do their LCA bidding (which is even more lucrative) then there is no way I'd have been able to get a schedule which lets me RT since they would have been doing it instead. People are either kidding themselves or outright lying if they try to tell you LCA bids won't have negative implications on the vast majority of FOs and quite a few captains as well.

I don't know how many LCA trip buy-outs are happening on the WBs, but again, think big picture. Retirements haven't started yet, once they do where do you think they will come from? Imagine life as a WB FO and pulling in triple pay for the month. I'm sure the company has exact numbers, I'll just throw out a hypothetical number and even if my number is wrong the argument isn't. Say we have 15% of FOs making more money than the guy in the left seat. That's basically 15% more captain positions. What if the company's opener was we should eliminate 15% of our captain positions? Would anybody vote for that?

One small blurb on PS. Somebody posted a great PS summary on the widget FB page and here's a takeaway I never considered. Say we trade PS for pay rates. Think about the next time we go to negotiate a contract and our rates are equal to or exceed our competition -- what are the odds we'll then get more? Think about when our competition gets a pay raise that would have triggered a free "me too" pay raise. If we trade rates for PS then that free raise is gone and instead all we did was give our competition a "me too" raise. The only counter to this argument that I've found some merit in, is if you believe we will not continue to be profitable.

I have a 3 automatic no votes, I think everybody else should too:
1. No LCA bidding concessions
2. No PS trades or concessions
3. No scope concessions

There is no reason for ANY concessions at this time.

Mine are:

1. No productivity concession (vacation sell, virtual basing, TLV increase) etc.

2. No scope concessions. Are we ever going to have a scope gain?

3. Pay must be United + with NO profit sharing give.

I only have one. If I will spend more time in a Delta uniform and not less, it's an easy no for me.

1. I'll vote yes on anything that let's me fly more. Can't believe they pay me to do this!!!! I'm giddy everytime I see myself in uniform.

2. We don't need Scope. I got plenty left over from the amenity bags on all my international DH's.

3. The company is doing great but could do better if we take a voluntary 10% pay cut. Let's all get on board!!!!

So unlimited junior assignments at straight pay, exempt from profit sharing, as long as you can wear business casual?

^^^^^EXCELLENT POINTS!! To add to your number 3. I think we should all fly, for free, a 3 day for Ed. I think that would help enhance our culture and allow our wonderful and righteous leader to sleep better at night
