30 day months allow a compressed schedule. The ALV gets split between 30 days vs 31, creating a little more efficiency. I could see them pushing for 28 day summer months and 32 day months in the winter. It is a concession equivalent to raising the max ALV during the summer.

It is more efficient from a line holder perspective. Since the majority of pilots are line holders, it's an overall win for the company.

That ask would be ridiculous. Our ask needs to be more vacation weeks available during the summer months. For years now I have had to take a vacation week in February, which is useless.

Is there a way to shift vacation days for next month (June bid period)? iCrew seems to be saying 'no.'

I'm trying to move it one week earlier. I'm a line holder but, if it matters, there's better reserve coverage and nothing in open time that week for my category vs. poor reserve coverage and lots in open time during my current vacation week.

If you are actually flying on those days you get them as PB days, if you aren't they are considered off days as awarded.

Smoothed out peak month block hours. Reduced overall staffing requirements. That's why we gave it to them. Wait. What?

You have to request Vacation Slide in your monthly bid. You can't do it after bids are released. Moving it now would not allow it to go thru a seniority-vetted process.

Or does a high ALV also add an X day?

I thought that was why the company wanted (and the appeasers gave them) all the summer months changed to 30 day months, instead of 31 for May, July and August? One less X day all summer May-Aug, is that right?
The number of X days one receives in a month is determined by the reserve guarantee and the number of days one will be on reserve for the specified month. I was looking in the wrong column. In a 30 day month with a 75 hour or greater reserve guarantee, you get 12 X days. If it was a 74.59 hour guarantee, you get 13 X days.

The extra X day is added to a category if the projected amount of reserve lines is 20% or more of said category.

Third paragraph short answer: Yes
