Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?

Had a complicated scenario pop up recently. Instead of accepting a trip I wasn't sure about, I skipped it and studied the contract instead. I just wanted to make sure I understood the rules for next time though.
I had to call in sick for a 4 day trip. I then called in well for days 3-4 of the trip. Day 4 of the trip was worth 6.30 block.
I received an auto-notification of an inverse assignment available on day 4 of the original trip leaving that afternoon. 1 day turn, paid 5.15.
My understanding:
- As a lineholder and the report time being <11 hrs away, I could call and talk to Crew Scheduling about the trip without accepting it.
- As a lineholder, the IA would normally be double pay, no credit, with no need to meet the typical GS threshold of ALV or 75 hrs.
- If I took the trip, I would get paid:
--> The value of days 1-3 of the original trip from my sick bank
--> 1.15 from my sick bank for the original trip day 4 (6.30 day 4 value minus 5.15 from the IA)
--> 5.15 for the 1 day IA*
--> 5.15 premium pay for the 1 day IA
*This effectively means that I would be flying the 1 day IA for single pay because I was already getting paid from my sick bank for that day if I didn't accept the IA.
Does all of this sound right?
Also, I don't live in base, so the quickest way to get me there would be a direct mainline flight scheduled to land 2 hrs after the IA check in time.
- Could I accept the trip contingent on them giving me positive space on that flight? Is that something they normally do for IA/GS offers?
- Would they even allow me to accept the trip if it meant delaying the flight by 1-2 hours?
Sorry for the long read, but any help from the resident experts is appreciated!

That is crazy talk...illegal job action. I have flown enough recently to realize that I need a break, I am going to layoff helping them out with thier staffing problems. I will only fly my schedule. I am tired, and dont feel the compelling need to help them when they dont feel the compelling need to give us a great contract. Just saying.
Really? No determination as to your fitness for duty?

The pilot is responsible for determining his or her own fitness for duty. And even if said pilot determines they are fit to fly...they are not required to fly over and above by picking up open time, answering the phone to accept a GS or IA. I simply dont feel compelled to help them with thier staffing issues until they help me with my contract. ( this is my opinio n, and I only speak for myself...I am not advocating any illegal action, just stating my personal position that I am not picking up any extra flying over my line.)

Get a copy of the parking form that's down in the little cubicle thingy by the base of the escalator going up to "Gilligan's Island"....take it to where it says on the sheet. Pull out wallet and deposit a ridicules amount of money with the parking office. Walla...there you have it. Welcome to the base that never should've been closed....
