My apologies if this has already been addressed.
Will the planned MD-88 capacity-increasing mod result in in MD-90 pay?
Will the planned MD-88 capacity-increasing mod result in in MD-90 pay?
Heyas,
While we're at it, let's ask:
Improved call-in-honest: What are you willing to give up to get the company to do that?
Improved jumpseat booking: What are you willing to give up to get the company to do that?
Better reserve work rules: What are you willing to give up to get the company to do that?
Better IT so pilot's don't have to log their landings: What are you willing to give up to get the company to do that?
Better retirement/pension: What are you willing to give up to get the company to do that?
More pay: What are you willing to give up to get the company to do that?
What are you willing to give up to get the company to do that?
What are you willing to give up to get the company to do that?
What are you willing to give up to get the company to do that?
What are you willing to give up to get the company to do that?
What are you willing to give up to get the company to do that?
When does it ever stop?
My answer: I HAVE ALREADY GIVEN...IT'S TIME WE MOVE UP, NOT DOWN OR SIDEWAYS.
You sir, are the weak link for thinking like this.

The ALPA guys doing the job here have achieved more, saved more jobs than any administration in the last 10 years that I've seen, and extracted value for things previously unvalued. I'm willing to let them work. Your group oversaw several of my buds getting furloughed twice in a 4 or 5 year period, no time credit for those furloughees, and Compass. Hmmm.
It's easy to squawk but much different to actually have a plan. Standing by for more of your inane rants and insults.

Doubt that we will expend negotiating capital for that.

Why would two planes with the same capacity be paid differently? Why would that require any "negotiating capital" whatsoever?
Why are some of us (and not just Slowplay this time) already rolling over?
RA has called the MD-88 a "powerful weapon." Well, no sh!t, if you can increase the capacity without increasing the pay.
To the smartass who's about to say, "it's only $2/hr"-- Don't.

And you sir are the unrealistic link. The company has never given and never will give anything for nothing. It's easy and simple-minded to have the list of wants that you have. I want all that too! It's a much different story to come up with a way to get it mid-contract. What was that your pilot group achieved in the last decade or so? That's what I thought.

Probably true, but the MEC is not doing a good PR campaign. I may or may not agree with what CALALPA and APA are doing, but they are addressing their members on what they are TRYING to get. What they are not doing is trying to sell what they got to the point of it was what they wanted from the get to.
Simply put, once again, better communications with regards to the direction and goals of this union will lead to a better understanding of the position and circumstances in which the MEC is dealing with. Without it, you have no baseline which to start from. Where we are starting from is a sale job, that many times fails to pass a sniff test.

Is the proposed rate that YOU think it should pay higher?
Does the company have any requirement to pay that higher rate?
If the answer to those questions are obvious, then the answer to your question of why it requires negotiating capital should be equally obvious. Either that, or you have no clue how the real world works. The world where we don't get improvements because they are "fair" or we think we "deserve" them.

OK, I'm back on your page again.
Seriously. It's the company's job to get away with not paying us more, and to find every single possible excuse to further that goal. They don't need ANY pilot's or union officer's (i.e. Slow's) help there.
Heyas...It's the union's job to crack management's heads--and take names--to improve our QOL, pay, and everything else--NOT to buck for a future management job, or whatever other personal agenda they have. See current ATL Chief Pilot's career path if you have any questions there.
I, for one, am glad to be on Nu's side now. He gets it.
