Flightline trip alerts and, to a lesser extent, easy swap gives me more time off and tens of thousands of dollars more per year.
So is it worth ten bucks per month.... um, yes?
Do yourself a favor and get easy swap. You need to spend the $10/mo for flightline, but it's tax deductible and you get open time trip alerts to boot.
You can literally sort and send 200 blind "bid package" trip swaps in 5 minutes.
I never use * for swaps... way too much chance of getting a terrible trip.

Really? I've only been here a year and have already been worked into my X days. Had one day of reserve on the last day of the bid month (didn't bid for that) and a line the next month. Was awarded a 4 day on my one day reserve block. I will always drop a golden day at the end of my reserve blocks, if able.
There are provisions for schedule changes regarding spill trips, and this may be what happened to you, but a golden day wouldn't have helped you in this case.

CD, I don't really understand this. If you had a RES day (one day on call at the end of the month), and a REG line the following month, how did the company violate your XX day's? You don't have XX days with a line, and therefore don't bid golden days during REG months. How would a golden day have helped you in this scenario on your last day on call? With the exception of REROUTE, you don't ever have to fly on your off days. There are many ways around that.

The main reason I always drop a golden day at the end of reserve block is for the auto release at noon. While it may never be an issue, it can't hurt to have it there.
You're right, words matter. In my mind, any day that i'm not on reserve or flying a trip (as part of line), is an X day or day off. I get your point and you're technically correct. But being worked into my days off (via the bid month change/spillover) is not something i'm a big fan of doing. What I was getting at, is it would be nice to have a way of bidding a golden day (or whatever you wish to call it) in the next month, whether it's a line or not, when you have reserve on the last day of the previous bid month. I did not intentionally bid a one day block on the last day of the month so I was stuck with it (couldn't move it due to manning). The failed TA has some provisions for just these types of issues, we'll see if it makes it into TA2.

scheduling has been known to either intentionally or unintentionally assign flying contrary to our contractual provisions.
There are four former scheduling supervisors in the dalpa scheduling shop, now working for us.
They will be able to see what happened.

Since we are on the topic of reserve, here's a new guy question. How many hours do you have to fly before you are considered full and they can't assign you another trip? Is it the reserve guarantee? If I had mil leave during the month that reduced my on call days, is it the same number of hours I was prorated to? I have a single day of reserve on Halloween and would rather fill up and be there for my kids at the end of the month.
Look at your time card in Icrew. The "Res Guar" amount is the number you are looking for. That number will count down as you fly. When it reaches zero, you are done.

Just so my old brain feels content with my understanding of the GS trigger……
I understand taking bank time to get 5 hours, etc
just talking pay…
If I am at 74 hours credit for the month and pick up a 2 day GS, my pay would be:
A. 74 plus 10:30 for GS= 84:30, no GS pay because I'm not at 75...
B. 74 plus 10:30 for GS, plus 9:30 GS pay = 94:00 (this is what time card shows)
just want to make sure it's not option A and I should put in for a one day WS. because option B is plenty for the month…
Thanks
