Mike,
Easy Hoss...
First the easy one...greenslips Flown On Your Days Off are treated like Mike said. Greenslips flown on on-call days are treated like yellow slips. But, they mark you down as a GS received so you go to the end of the line.
If the trip starts as a deadhead. The following is timeline out of order... Call scheduling within 24 hrs of sign in tell them you are deviating. Make your reservation to work under the company business tab in travel net within 2 weeks of the trips departure. Keep the hotel if you need it. There will be a minimal loss of perdiem.

Just to make sure I have this right .. One can book the deadhead on the front end within 2 weeks prior to contacting scheduling 24hrs before departure? I have a trip coming up in a few weeks and wanted to book the DH because flights are getting full already. Thanks for any clarification!

Why are you surprised? This has been the trend for a while. The SF-HNL route is dead next month which Virgin America is starting up and we're going to codeshare with them.
Question, how many frames/shells/airplanes/flying machines does Delta want in its aresnal? Whats the top number?

If we are code sharing on that route it would have to be with Alaska or Hawaiian although I think hAl is limited to inter island codeshare only.

I bit the bullet and called scheduling and they said if you deviate its considered being on your own time. I do have one other question that i can't find in the scheduling guide or PWA. Is the only way to add time on top of your Reserve guarantee without flying the whole guarantee green slipping? Thanks!
On reserve, yes gs on days off is really only way to make extra $, but keep in mind that I wouldn't bank on it as it can be quite seasonal depending on your category.

In a nutshell deviating and/or commuting is considered on "your time" and the faa and delta expect you to arrive at the beginning of the duty period sufficiently rested. Some it's the day of, some it's the night before.

Premium Pay
Terms
“Green slip” (GS) means a request by a pilot to be assigned same-day/next-day open time
that may generate premium pay:
• on his regular line days off,
• on his reserve line X day(s),
• on reserve line on-call days, while on long-call, with less than 12 hours’ notice, or
• on his remaining reserve line on-call days in the current bid period after he has accumulated credit equivalent to the ALV in such bid period.
Per the handbook, not possible to GS on SC, and it's only a GS on LC if the report is in less than 12 hours. If the reserve pilot is filled up, then (i think) it is just a normal GS.
