Hold on, I'm a little confused here, and no disrespect but you said:

Delta announced the order in June. You also are stating that Delta still plans on executing these options, yet the CEO of a publicly owned company stated at an investor conference last week that he will be cancelling the order for these aircraft. Do you have anything to back-up your claim that Delta still plans on executing the order for 40 B737-900ERs that they announced in June. The order they announced they publicly announced they will cancel? Is there a delivery schedule for these 40 B737s that you are aware of? Not the previous order, but the 40 "options."

Also are you still willing to bet that there will be another TA in 2 weeks? If so, how much are you willing to bet?

So... if you don't make the flight for whatever reason, call scheds and it becomes their problem--just as if you were on your scheduled DH and got waylaid somewhere. In the situation you describe, I'd assume they'd PS you on the subsequent flight and tell you to get to the gate ASAP upon arrival in DTW--but, again, that'll be up to them.

It gets much hairier if you're offline getting to DTW--you're basically going to have to have the same backups in place as with any other commute.

All of the above is AIUI, so take it with a suitable grain of salt....
Thanks for your reply. I was thinking the same thing but up to now I haven't had a chance to put it into practice.

You have to learn "CEO speak". He didn't say those ordered were canceled - he said he "will" be canceling those 40 that were ordered. Clearly by the time of the investor call, the TA had already been rejected, so there was probably time to cancel the orders. So, this way when the TA passes eventually they'll still have the orders. (or really exercising previous options)

If you think that Delta's fleet renewal plans are solely based on a TA, well. I was a little surprised the company did that - because if the TA failed they would have some egg on their face. Those 40 737-900ER are coming - it is just a matter of when. The company can announce the orders as part of a TA, or not as part of a TA. Also, those airplanes weren't There was no language in the TA that tied the 737-900 to passage of the TA. Those 40 weren't even going to come during this TA, probable delivery 2018-2019.

Yep, and what's in it, will be what management really wants. I bet I know what that is too.

That's an interesting perspective. I guess time will tell.

Not correct. For source data go look at the Delta 10K posted February 11, 2015. Fleet orders and options are posted there.

The original order was for 100 B737-900ER with 30 options. There was no option exercise or conversion.

Ah... regardless, RA expressed his intentions to exercise all the options months ago. Maybe there is our punishment and they'll exercise 30.

Given it's a 739, it is kind of punishing.

I guess if the A321 is not a performance replacement of the 757 as far as transcons and that the 739 is going to fulfill that roll, I'd have to say the 739 is coming.

In a way, remember how C2012 would spark hiring? But it didn't happen. And then 2 years later it did. And now we're told it's because C2012. Then fine, in 3 years when we finally get unparked and Delta orders 739s, we can rightfully say, see, told you they were coming.

I'm really looking forward to guys like you, Weigel, Jorgenson et. al. leading us to the promised land. At least Nestor, Dilbeck, Mason, Shinnick and other guys from your peer group stepped up and tried. You'll be able to tell us "told you" so much easier. Plus, you'll build some character with the rocks that get thrown at you by "friendly fire".

And I'm serious.

Sucks when your years of disdain of the people you were supposed to represent and serve catches up to you, doesn't it?

For the record, I will not support a recall of Nestor or Mason. Dilbeck has lost his way in the harwood machine, and I think needs to step out. Shinnick put in a tremendous amount of effort... in convincing people that no was absolutely the correct vote.

Also, my level of participation in ALPA is officially the same as Shinnick.
